I wondering what people are on the look out for the first time they have sex with someone. The first time I had sex with my current Girl friend, we had known each other for 3 years and knew a lot about each other. I figured any danger I was facing sex wise was pretty low (not zero, but close enough).

What I am wondering is, what sort of warning signs do you look for before you have sex with someone you only kind of or in some cases hardly know?

Hygiene, bad smell, selfishness, aggression, and fitness.

Cleanliness is godliness. I'm not going to lick a dirty taint.
I'm big on scent. If you smell bad, I'll have nothing to do with you.
If you're selfish in general, you're probably selfish in bed.
I don't want someone overly aggressive, but assertive.
Is this person in shape? I'm not interested if s/he is going to poop out on me and I haven't even broken a mild sweat.

(And honestly, I wouldn't do a complete stranger. If I knew them a little, I'd definitely use protection!)

If you're talking warning signs strictly in the STI sense, then I have to say that for a lot of STIs, they don't have signs until several months AFTER you've become contagious. So looking for warning signs is definitely not the way to go, but if they have signs, they're usually pretty obvious. It's probably too late by then, though.

Needle marks are also not generally a good thing. I would at least try to get a sense of how promiscuous they are before I was doing the deed, if possible, but if you're just looking for a 1-night stand, then forget it.

Oh, and you'll probably want protection. You know, like Vito and Guido

motdakasha's got it pretty well, i'd say, as far as physical characteristics go.

i tend to accept any attitude archetypes, though, except pacifism; aggression meet aggression, selfishness can have pleasures many don't realize, especially when it becomes a contest, etc, etc.

but, this goes without saying: bag it. bag every time.

pretty much what other people have said, in the realms of cleanliness, presonality type etc

At least right now..

Things can change, maybe me and Shyla will venture into weird sexual things in the future. But for now, we're stuck with each other.

Love has nothing to do with it (for me anyway).

There is sex and then there is sex.

Sex with someone you love is great and a big part of an intimate loving relationship.

As for the characteristics of who I would have sex with I am in agreement with motdakasha.
However, sex with someone for sex sake can also be quite enjoyable.

I'd want to at the very least care about them first. And I'd want them to not have assbreath. Fortunately I do love Meff, and he always has good breath. And he smells good, too. Oh, and he's awesome in bed.
