I remember George saying something like this on an episode of Seinfeld, about how couples who have had an interesting meeting/hookup always seem to last. I believe it was something like a "cool metting story".

Anyway, i always like to hear these nice stories how people meet and are now madly in love etc, you know it makes you feel all nice and warm inside, or horribly jealous, bitter and twisted.
Although, i am the former

So post you nice hookup stories, even if they're not particulary interesting.

My last meeting just involved meeting a friend of a friend. I guess there are gonna be lots of these. Needless to say it didn't last, cause we're not together, although still remain friends to an extent. So, that was my last one, which seems to follow Georges prediction. I really need to have a cool hookup story so then i'll know it'll last.

My g/f and I barely knew each other, and I actually thought she was scared of me before we started hanging out, but the way we got together was kinda cool, but pretty simple.

She is an international student, and we met originally at school. She was taking E.S.L. (english as a second language) classes, and I was taking Japanese at the time. I look back and I think how cute it was; she was Japanese and barely knew English, and I was an American who barely knew Japanese.

Anyway, we saw each other off and on, in short bursts here and there, and then the following summer I was under the assumption that she had left and went back to Japan forever. But, that very next fall, we had chemistry together, which she told me was an accident because she originally intented on taking geology instead, but lost her seat during a freak registration accident.

The rest was classic, because I was still taking Japanese and needed a partner, and she hated Chemistry. We started hanging out regularly, and now, almost a year later, she lives with me.
That's really all, I think it is a cute story.

i met my bf in march/april 2002 in an IRC chan.
(i was living in MN, USA atm, he's from/in Germany)

lots of chatting, pm-ing, emailing, eventual fone calling...

then july 6th of last year he came to stay with me for until sept. 12th. IRL all was well and excellent, we were both happy and pleased and in love.

then he went back to germany, and we maintained a LDR sucessfully until Dec. 19th, when i got on a one-way flight to Germany.

nosey upperclassmen and stigmata brought juan into my life. My freshman year, my roommate failed to show up, so I had what was origionally a triple room, with just me in it. homesick, depressed... it sucked. so. my next door neighbor was a sophomore involved in the Christian group on campus, so she was into the being friendly w/ EVERYONE thing, and dragged me off to meet her friends. a similar thing had happened to juan, with a senior, and we all ended up together to watch a movie. Stigmaga. creepy movie, btw. He was wearing a Metallica shirt, and looked a bit lonely, so I asked him about it, and we started talking, and started hanging out... told him I liked girls, he was cool w/ it... found myself falling in love w/ him, which really sucked after the whole girl-confession thing, but we rolled with it, and it'll be 4 yrs together this october.

bluebongo and i originally met after i posted an excite personal looking for more people to hang out wif wayback a long time ago. at the time she was pretty heavy into the local undernet irc channel, so we met up and walked down to a get-together and spent the night interacting with other geeks. we were friends back then, i was under the impression that she was with someone, so i didn't try persuing any further...

skip forward a couple of years of on and off contact later, and i'm nearing the end of my marriage with my (soon to be) ex... i started contacting old friends to get myself out and about more to keep my mind off of my ex and we just kidna ran back into eachother... and fell into eachother. the whole time we'd known eachother one of us had always been with someone else so we never went down the relatyionship avenue until we did, but i know i'd always dug her since i met her... i suppose good things come to those who wait, but i often wonder how much easier life would've been if we had fallen into eachother's lives alot earlier (pre-ex). oh well. i suppose things happen for a reason.

A few years ago a good friend of a good friend asked if I could accompany him on a double date. He'd met this "really great girl" at work, and wanted to take her out, but she wouldn't go out solo, so he talked her into a double.
He asked me the day before-hand, because no one else was available (keep in mind, we're friends only through other people). I told him sure, I'd stop by the pool-hall after I got out of work.
I arrive about 15 minutes late, change from professional attire to casual in the parking lot, and saunter in. My casual attire, as I call it, is generally a Tool shirt sporting a hole or two, some faded jeans, and black oxfords. I wasn't worried about my look, because all indications I received pointed to my "date" as being nothing I wanted to entice.
Anyway, I walk in and look around, and can't see my friend, Jay... But I do see this one brunette knockout. Seriously agog, I chill by the cue rack for a minute or two 'til I see Jay exit the bathroom. I grab a cue and head over to the table where he, the brunette knockout, and another, unattractive girl are playing.
He sees me, introduces me the Sarah, and her friend Kim. Sarah, nicely tanned, dark hair and enchanting green eyes, smiles and I say to myself "Damn, did I get lucky!" Then Jay puts his arm around her shoulders, letting me know where I stand. For an hour or so I entertain Kim while he lays "the mack" down. We all talk about work and stuff, school and majors and whatnot.
Anyway, I make some eye contact with Sarah and smile a bit, but I'm rather disillusioned, so the night passes quickly into memory.
We leave, Jay thanks me, and I head home...

Sarah shows up at my work the next day, gives me her phone number, and sets up a date for that evening. I drool and mumble incoherently while she smiles and exhibits a refined vocabulary.

We've been dating for a few years now, maintaining a long distance relationship for 8 months out of the year (Roanoke, VA to Maine).

Oh yeah, and Jay still hates me.

Hmm, well I don't know how happy or perfect this is but I met my SO when I was hitting on her good friend (still good friend).

It ended up that I lost interest in her friend (because she was just too finicky as a person) and my SO and I became better friends. We spent a lot of time learning about each other before we realized that we wanted to be together.

We've been together for 11 months now and it's fabulous.

Met my wife at a hockey game. My buddy and I had seasontickets sitting in a row with a few other rowdy guys. We had downed a 12 pack before the game in the parking lot and stumbled to our seats. Noticed this hot girl in the row behind me, with 2 kids and a few other people. Anyway as the game goes on this guy sitting right behind me is trying to explain the rules to everyone he's with but is getting them all wrong. I nudge my buddy and wonder if he's hearing the same nonsense I am. (he was) So I decide I am goignto turn around and tell this guy to shut up. When I turn around I see this girl staring at me and smiling. Well, I no longer want to tell this guy to kiss off, so I try and explain the real rules to everyone. Everytime I turn around she's smiling at me, and I keep turning around a lot. Anyway I finally figure I should ask for her number, as I see she is with her mom and her mom's BF and 2 kids but no other guy hanging around. I'm trying to figure out how to ask her in front of everyone, when after a goal and everyone is high fiving everyone, SHE high fives HER number into MY hand and winks at me. I called her the next day. Its been 10 yrs now.

I met my girl (Gelfling to you all) at work. I'd worked there for many months when my ex and I broke up. After a few months, I started to pursue her (she was with a guy at the time) and I managed to steal her away. It's been about 6 months, going on a lifetime.

p.s.- don't be upset I 'stole' her away. I won't get into specifics for her sake, but he was a DICK DELUXE. Ignored her, took advantage of her kindness (she's the sweetest girl you could ever meet, and I love her to death), and wasn't a good guy in general.

Well, I met my girlfriend through a friend of mine. His friend Jessica had invited him to go to the July 4th fireworks in Asheville, and told him that she was bringing a friend of hers with her, and that he needed to bring someone as well. I was that person he brought. So we meet them at a restaurant downtown. When Hannah, my girlfriend, walked in.... I litterally stopped breathing. She was exquisitely beautiful. I wasnt sure what to expect. But once we started talking, we really hit it off very well. We both felt we could open up to each other very easily, so we got really close really quickly. We cuddled on the grass while watching the fireworks (how romantic), and then went back to my house to watch a movie. On the way back to my car, I told her I really wanted to spend more time with her and asked if I could get her number. Funny enough, she said she was waiting for me to ask her because she really wanted to see me again.
Anyway, we watched Romeo and Juliet. I really wanted to hold her hand, but I was a wuss. She could tell I wanted to though, and pretty much put her hand right next to mine, and I knew what I had to do. Every couple minutes I would look over at her, and see her looking at me the whole time. Slowly but surely she started scrunching up closer to me, and next thing I know, we're making out, a lot. So I had quite the night with her. We're now going strong three months. When I first met her, I was pretty sure that after that night, I would probably never see, or talk to her again. I guess this is proof that not all blind dates fail miserably. I have never felt this close to someone before. We can both talk about anything, no matter how personal it is. We're very open about our feelings and what not. And I love her very much.

Okay, hooking up at the prom probably isn't that unusual, however, it was at someone else's prom.

My wife attended a public H.S. I went to a Catholic all-boys school. We had mutual friends at the public H.S. who were a grade ahead of my wife.

We wound up going to their prom. The others left us at the table, she asked me to dance, and when the dance was over, she kissed me. Now, she'll swear I kissed her, BUT, she kissed me. We've been together ever since! Over 20 years now.

My gf and I met at a bar. Been together 6 years next month. I was one of those that thought I'd never meet anyone decent at a bar but was happily proved wrong.

Walked into the bar with a couple of friends and immediately saw her. She was sitting at a table with a friend and looked a bit bored. We made eye contact but when I turned around after getting a drink she was gone. Later in the evening we ventured to another area of the bar which was a dance club. She was on the dance floor with several guys trying to dance with her. She basically brushed them all aside and continued dancing on her own. Not being a dancer, I waited to approach her away from the dance floor. As I walked towards her, she did a test tube shot. I said hello and asked if I could buy her a drink (pretty original ehh?). She gave me this evil look and said "I just had one. "

I'm thinking, "WOW, I read that wrong." I thought we had made strong eye contact and had been attracted to each other. I said, something like "Damn, nevermind." and started to walk away. She grabbed me and said "Wait she didn't mean it that way." We started talking a bit and were really hitting it off. Her friend was obviously not real happy about it though. The friend kept pushing her to leave and finally said they had to go right now. Before she left I asked for her number and she spent about 4 or 5 minutes writing something on a piece of paper. I'm thinking she's writing a novel or making up a number to give me. Turned out she was writing down like three different numbers where I could get in touch with her.

I called her two nights later (yeah I played the don't call the next day game) and we talked for hours on the phone. We set up a date and place to meet. I was to meet her at her college's student center. When I got there I didn't see her. There was a girl at a table doing some work with her head down. I approached her but it wasn't who I was looking for. Right then she came in the door and off we went to a bar with a live band. We sat at a table and talked for hours. People around us struck up conversations with us and commented about what a perfect couple we made and asked how long we had been together. They were shocked to know this was our first date.

The next thing I knew the lights in the bar came on. I thought there was a fire or something but they announced last call and I was amazed. We had talked for more than 5 hours without a clue how late it was.

I was working part time at Kmart while in college, when this beautiful young lady started working there. Every time I saw her, I thought that I just had to meet her, and when she finally walked by the department I was in, I said something witty and she smiled at me. Next time she was close enough, I asked her for a date, and many years later we got married. Everyone that worked at Kmart joked that we'd have a "blue light" marriage!

Well, my S.O. and I went to the same H.S. but we didn't really know each other that well. So it's my junior year, I'm on my computer with my best friend playing on the computer right next to mine I believe playing Diablo. So I get a message from my S.O. and she says she's talking to me because one of my other friends is their with her. We get to talking, and she's saying how the next day they'd like to come over, and they keep on giving me and my friend the idea that they'd give us sexual favors. So anyway, they come over in the morning, and we get to sorta talking when she goes to beat on my best friend with his belt because he was still sleeping. So my other friend says to my S.O. that she should go talk with me, my S.O. comes over and for some reason I was on the floor probably working on my computer, but she sits on a chair and I rest my head on her leg. As I do that, my mom comes downstairs, sees one girl running my best friends back, and me with my head on another girls lap, she started wondering what the hell was going on. We make up a lie or something and my mom eventually leaves or goes back to sleep and my S.O. leave my best friend and the other girl alone to talk, and we go to my room. In my room we end up making out and I was going to try some other stuff, but she had her period and wouldn't let me. So a little bit later, she has to go to work and we talk that night or next morning online and I ask her out with her prodding.
Ya, that's my sappy story, but I'm stickin to it...

We met online when my wife was getting a scarification piece from the artist that apprenticed me, and he directed her to me for aftercare advice and information on the procedure, since I've been cut several times. We started talking online and over the phone (I was in vegas on business at the time) and when I got back I asked her out for sesame tofu (her FAVORITE dish at a local chinese resturaunt) and a movie. We say Y Tu Mama Tambien, which may not be the best first date movie in the world but about 1/2 the way through the movie we kissed and my life hasn't been the same since.

Mr. S and I met while I was president of our college's Gay-Straight Alliance. He was a straight ally and I was the super lesbian. We, of course, were just friends.

Then we started playing Trivial Pursuit in the evenings. He started falling for me pretty hardcore, and I was ecstatic to find someone who could match me intellectually.

Of course he was in a long-distance relationship at the time, so I didn't think he was interested in me. And of course, I was dating girls at the time, so I didn't consider him. In an odd twist of both of us "slipping", we ended up making out one night. And then the next two nights. Then he went to make his decision. To break it off with his fiance who lived in a different state, or to see if a relationship with me would be good. His eventual answer was to leave his key to my apartment in a plain envelope by my door.

I didn't hear from him for almost a whole year. Then he emailed me and said he made a huge mistake, and that he hasn't stopped thinking about me. We talked. And I knew that he was my exception to the lesbian thing. We've been happily together ever since.
