Male Leg Shaving

Ok, so I have been shaving my legs and the majority of unwanted body hair for several years now and am still interested in the opinions of others on this matter. First of all, I suppose everyone has reasons for the things they do, so here are mine. Overall, I think that shaved legs look better on anyone and help to enhance muscle definition in your legs ( I started this when I used to play basketball). Also, it feels great to be smooth and to be with someone else of the like as well as keeping me cooler for the summer and making tanning even easier. Lastly, some girls that I know find it attractive and bold that a guy would go ahead with that sort of thing, however some are rather repulsed by it and consider it 'wrong'.

Because of this preference of mine I have been ignorantly called a homosexual by those who are uncomfortable with this sort of thing. I am however heterosexual and am now noticing that more and more guys are keeping themselves trimmed/shaved these days in an overall beautification effort and that it is becoming more welcomed/accepted.

To be honest here, I am more interested in the opinions of the ladies of this forum, but also wouldnt mind hearing what the guys have to say as well.

Thanks in advance for your replies

I shave my legs in the summer as I do alot of cycling. Sometimes I get lazy and it grows back, true I have met younger women and they kinda dig it. Yeah your right though some guys think your a homo casue you shave your legs. Oh well guess all those sport stars making shit loads of money are all gay. Do what you like I say. It can be a real pain to keep on top of though. My ex used to bitch when I got lazy and they get all prickly.

I shave mine, but not all the way to the skin. If I leave my hair alone on my legs, it turns into a forest that even I hate looking at. So I just get an electric razor, put a head on it, and trim that forest down every couple of weeks. But still enough hair to be called "manly"

Personally no,

I'm actually getting really tierd of people using insults like

your gay.

or dude thats so fucking homo

I used to be one of those people, and have since renouced my homophobia.

I am hetrosextual with a g/f. But i could care less if you shave your legs.

If i shaved my legs i think my major problem with it is I already have to shave my god damn face why bother with my legs too.

I mean girls have to shave every other day to keep it smooth right?

My legs contain a lot of surface area so i don't think its for me just way to much time spend on my personal apperance.

The only thing i think i'd really like about it is rubbing up against another person IE a girl with shaved legs as well i think that would feel great. I like rubbing against her with shaved legs however i can feel my hair rubbing between and its disatisfying.

But keeping up with it wouldn't be worth it as i hate it when my g/f has stubble.

just my 2cents

Men with shaved legs are kinda creepy to me. I guess I am just used to that soft hair men have on their legs. Feels good to me.

Don't shave mine, but if I had a girl and she really wanted me to do it I probably would. Not going to happen otherwise.

I don't "shave" per say, but I nair them once a week. I don't care if they get a little stubbly by day 7 or 8. My girlfriend likes it a lot as do her friends. To my surprise, a couple of my male, hetrosexual, friends do it as well. I think more and more guys are starting to do it because it's being more reflected in tv and movies. You know, the guys with chiseled, shaved bodies.

It started out first by shaving the pubes. I did that because I was disgusted by pubic hair, as I know most of your are as well. Gradually I became more and more disgusted by the mass amounts of hair on my legs and the rest of my body. I did what Gman does: trimmed. That became much too tedious and took too long so I resorted to using nair. If done correctly, it doesn't burn your skin off, but it does take a lot of painful trial and error. As for the rest of my body, I keep most of it just trimmed and do that no more than once a month. One argument I hear from the homophobes is that it's "too vain" or whatnot. I tell them to have their girlfriends/wives stop wearing makeup and shaving. I tell them to stop shaving and getting hair cuts.

I'll happily be the first to admit that I am vain. Being vain gives me more self confidence. In addition, I've found that the girls that I tend to like, *cough* kinky *cough*, are really into the whole shaving thing. I like to think it makes them feel like they're being fucked by a porn star, but I know I'm full of it.

I don't shave them. Too long, too complicated, and for what? I don't really see the point. Anyway, my girlfriend prefers that I don't shave them anyway ~_^

Huh, i'm still not gonna shave my legs, however you know what is erotic shaving your g/f legs for her in the tub!

Not sure why, but its very erotic/romantic gets you both going too.

I don't purposely shave, but I have large, involuntary bald patches on my calves. Not particularly good looking to me.

Waxing's better, both for longevity and the regrowth.

I used to swim competitively and I did the shaving ritual before competitions. Shaving really does reduce drag, and noticeably so. You can actually feel the difference. If you don't believe me, go here and read the abstracts to four experiments that were done to prove (successfully) that shaving reduces drag.
http://soloswims.com/shaving.htm

"It was concluded that there is indeed a physical benefit to shaving-down (most likely a reduction in body drag) and that the benefits are not solely due to a psychological response."

"Thus, it is concluded that the use of this procedure before major competitions provides a measurable physiological advantage for the swimmer."

"It is concluded that removing body hair reduces active drag, thereby decreasing the physiological cost of swimming."

"These data indicate that reduced training specifically improves swim power; however, removing exposed body hair after taper may additionally enhance performance capabilities by increasing distance per stroke."

I get alot of shit for it, but I shave my legs (male). Along with the rest of the body hair.

I have been doing it for about three years now. After that long I am disgusted by body hair. Which most of the time is a huge problem.

so i see that there are quite a few guys out there who do shave their legs or would 'consider it'. so im wondering what methods that those of you who do shave, use. personally, i will usually use clippers and go over it all first (if i got lazy and let it grow) and then use a mach 3 or sometimes nair. i have never tried waxing mainly because the ripping doesnt seem too appealing to me.

so what do the rest of you do?

My legs are hairy as all get out, but I don't think I would ever shave em. It's counter productive; I'd have to keep shaving it, and that would be shitty.

Who really cares about hair anyway?

and it sounds like you swimmers are just lazy, cutting off all your hair so you don't have to train.

The waxing's fine, although you shouldn't do your testicles that wqay - too great a risk of damage. The legs barely hurt. Now the belly, on the other hand...

You get a smoothness that lasts longer, and less itchy regrowth.

I didn't say it didn't help ..
You cannot test it precise .. as you can never swim the same time twice ..
It has been proven that it wont increase your speed that much.
Think about it .. ? .. you have to have real hairy legs to feel a difference ..
I did competition swimming some years ago. And i've been swimming for 6 years overall. .. haven't done it since i stopped competing though ..

0.003% was an understatement to illustrate my point ..
I might be more, but nothing you can compare to eachother.
As i said before, you will most likely never swim with the same speed twice. And the speed you will get from shaving your legs will be the same as going to the gym once in a while to get better musclular performance.

and it sounds like you have no fucking clue what you're talking about. oftentimes, serious swimmers do what is called resistance training. when they practice (which they gradually increase in intensity and distance), they wear extra clothes to add double the resistance and stop shaving to get as hairy as is possible. the day before the meet, or sometimes day of the meet, they have a shaving party.

this is the equivalent of running with weights on before a track meet, then the day of the meet taking them off. you're so used to that extra resistance that when you finally do compete, your body is less strained and more efficient.

it's not a matter of being lazy, it's a matter of practicing in a tougher environment so that when you do compete it's easier. shaving without training before a meet defeats the whole concept.

I have been shaving my legs since my junior year of high school. I got sick of looking like a damn gorilla.

I have been told its homo, etc, but I really don't care what other people think. I like it for me. That's all that matters.

Thought about shaving my arms too, but decided against.
