My girlfriend got her period too early
 

Hi, I'm a guy but I don't know where else to turn with this question. So, earlier today, my girlfriend and I were having sex, and everything went OK until suddenly I realized she was bleeding. We've had sex several dozen times before this, so it's not because she was a virgin or anything.

The thing is, she wasn't supposed to have her period yet. She's on the pill, and she was really, really scared now that something might be severly wrong. She's going to her gynecologist tomorrow, but I'd just like to hear from any of you whether or not you have any experiences like this?

How early? And did she actually start her period or was there just bleeding after sex?

Some bleeding can happen after sex if she's not sufficiently lubed, or just because. Breakthrough bleeding can happen if you're on the pill for a number of reasons - stress, natural hormone fluctuations, fibroids, etc.

It's a good idea to go to the gynecologist to rule out any of the more serious stuff, but chances are this is nothing to be concerned about.

Yeah she said that it didn't hurt and she didn't notice until I told her she was bleeding, so it probably wasn't because of lack of lube. She usually has her period early in the month, and now it's the 24th, so it's roughly over a week too early, I'd guess.

Oh well, we'll get all the answers tomorrow, hopefully.

That entire area tends to bleed if anything is wrong in even the slightest.

My wife sometimes gets her period early. She's been on the pill for about 4 years. For her, it's just the pill messing with her body. She's regular most of the time, but sometimes it just comes a little early or a little late. Has your girlfriend missed a day taking her pill? If so, that could be the problem. Even just one missed day can throw everything off. Not to worry you, but that's the way the pill is. I don't think she should be too scared.

Hmm I don't think so, she's very punctual on everything she does, so it would surprise me if she didn't take it every day at the exact time she should.

But maybe it's just the same thing as with your wife :)

It's happened to me and my wife before with no ill effects. I wouldn't be terribly concerned.

Better a week early than six weeks or nine months late. My g/f is off the pill now, but even when she was on, if we had sex (let me rephrase - vigorous sex) anytime during the week before her period, she'd start the next morning. Like clockwork. Cycles be damned. There's nothing like coming home and hearing "Do me a favor and fuck the hell out of me, i don't want to be on my period during our vacation" or something similar.
