How many of you straight guys would share a bed with another guy?

In cases where if there were 4 guys and only 2 beds in a hotel room. You can't afford your own room, there's an uncomfortable couch or no couch, you know...cases like that. Do you consider it gay? I don't but it seems like a lot of guys are freaked out by the idea.

Well, it might not seem like it but I am the most secure human being in this planet when it comes to sexuality. I once went to DC with two friends of mine. A dude, my beast friend and his cousin, a girl. The girl was a traditional human in that she knew (or more accurately, expected) I would have a problem with sleeping with him so she volunteered to share a bed with me (in the most non-sexual way possible) - I obliged, of course. I would not have had a problem with sharing abed with my best friend. I have no sexual attraction to males whatsoever. I might appreciate their prowess in the "swag" category but thats as far as it goes.

I have shared beds with other males but they were all immediate family members. But I would not have a problem with sharing a bed with another male.

I just think if girls can share a bed together without it being sexual then guys can too. I mean, I've heard guys say it was gay and talk about boners...it's like them saying "if you think there will be boners are you tryin to say you will get one?"

The question seems a bit too theoretical. Having been in the situation before, I'm glad to grab a blanket and take the floor simply out of courtesy. If someone had a gun to my head, I'd obviously do it and I wouldn't consider it gay (though it would be quite strange to have someone threaten my life and provide those instructions). It would only become gay if there was sexual contact between two members of the same gender, which I don't imagine there would be.

Freaked out? Not guys that have played GI Joe for a long weekend. When you're wet and cold and told to sleep in a hole in the ground, you welcome having another human body next to to you. The whole I'm-male-safety-bubble-or-its-gay thing sloughs off pretty quick. Would I sleep in a large hotel bed with another dude? No problems with it as long as he doesn't snore like a chainsaw. It's just a bed and it's just sleep. What's up with the innuendo, society? Makes ya wonder. Is sharing a bench seat with some dude on the metro gay too? Wow, I'm not up with these trends. Everybody sits sideways on their two-person seat to occupy the space for some reason. What if I sleep in a truck on the driver's side with another dude in the passenger seat? Is that acceptable? What about if a few guys are over at my place and one of them falls asleep on the couch after his 19th Budweiser? Is that wrong?

Okay, let's clear up some stuff first (and this is really important, mission critical, quite crucial):

A: Straight women cannot perform homosexual acts around men. Let me clarify: It's perfectly acceptable for women to make out at nightclubs, Mardi Gras, college parties, and Parcheesi night at your friend's house. It's also okay for women to grope each others' breasts and buttocks and legs and crotches. They're still heterosexual and have nothing to fear. Even a woman going down on another woman isn't gay if a heterosexual man is watching. Women are allowed to grope, lick, or finger another woman and as long as a straight man is within 50 feet, it's perfectly normal. In fact, it's highly encouraged behavior and many men judge their partner's heterosexuality and suitability as a mate on her ability to bring a woman to orgasm.

/sexual behavior trends for sub-30s crowd in the United States circa 2010

Also:

B: If two hetero dudes are sleeping together in a hotel bed, the whole morning wood issue shouldn't be a problem unless they're spooning. Which, in the context of this thread, would be gay. If I'm sharing a bed with some dude, we're both facing away from each other the entire night and there will be no sheet rustling whatsoever. It's part of the genetic code of all heterosexual males along with the desire to eat meat and hatred of pastels.

yup guys can too, but honestly most men out there (in the US anyway) aren't secure enough with their sexuality and are too homophobic to be able to, which is pretty ridiculous if you ask me...as far as the whole boner thing, well, they happen and a secure man would realize this as normal and not be freaked out by it...i have slept in very close proximity to other men before and it only becomes a big deal if someone makes it one

Very well put....

Played GI Joe for way more than a long weekend and never had an issue. Worked in circumstances that required close quarters for extended periods, and never had a problem with it.

You take rack time where you can get it. It's just sleep. Shit can turn nasty awful quick under those circumstances, and you want your team close.

I've shared a bed with another guy, frequently. Didn't care, didn't even think about it. Perhaps it says more about the guys that say it's gay than the guys who actually do it. I'd say they are the ones with the issues.

It's sounds like a maturity issue, as well. Are the "a lot of guys" that you speak of all the same age demographic? Around high school, early college age?

Plan 9, while I agree there is nothing wrong with sharing a bed with another guy, I feel differently about the "behavioral trends for the sub-30's". For one, most girls I know act out in disgust toward other women if any hypothetical mentioning of intimacy is brought up in public between her and another girl. Also, your assessment saying eating meat and hating pastels is a hardwired prerequisite for the male genetic code is silly (joke?).

There is a huge diff between "can I share half the bed?" and "mind if I rest my cock between your creamy thighs for a bit?"

I've done it plenty of times and probably would again, especially in hotels. When you're poor as dirt, 1000 miles from home, its 20 below outside and you have choice between sharing a bed in warm hotel room and sleeping in the van the last thing on your mind is "On a scale of 1 to fabulous how gay is this?"

Not really a big deal.

When I was in high school I lived with a bunch of dudes at a children's home. 4 guys per room. While we had separate beds, sometimes my friend and I would sleep in the same bed, me under my blanket and him under his, his feet to my head. It never bothered us, or really our roommates. We'd stay up talking about bullshit, then nod off.

Another time all 16 guys in the house laid 2 mattresses down on the floor and everyone stacked crisscross like lincoln logs, 4 per layer. I was on 3rd layer, and actually fell asleep until about 2AM. It was retarded but funny.

So sharing a bed is not a problem, really. I'm secure in my preferences.

it amazes me how much concern there is with body contact.

I am so fluid with my sexuality. If I couldnt sleep in a bed with a representative member of a group I could/would/did have sex with, I would be sleeping on the floor all the time.

Or they would since I am the lady.

But then some of them are as well, regardless of their gender.

I read where many of you are fine sleeping in bed with another man...but only as long as no body contact is made.

God forbid body contact is made.

Comfort of any kind could be misconstrued as homo-sex-ual-it-y....

and even in its weakest expression, its still sickening to hear being said out loud...

like a dirty little secret that is still thought of as perfectly acceptable...

I think this internalized homophobia that exists in our culture and is amplified far heavier amongst the male population is deadly to male homosexuals and bisexuals, intesexed folks and FtMs and MtFs. They are all potential preys to the heterosexual predator who feels threatened by the prey's mere existance in their territory. So they seek to kill them off.

For spooning them in in their sleep. A subconscious behavior someone might make while asleep.

I think most men would not kill anyone for accidentally spooning someone in their sleep. I do think someone might beat them up. Call them names. Degrade them. Make them feel bad.

there are many ways to die.

One way is to be gay in america and to face ritualistic insults on a daily basis for being the man you are.

the man you are.

yes, the man you are.

I have fucked straight men, gay men (yes they fuck women too), bisexual men.

they are all men.

Do you live in America? If so, this shouldn't amaze you. It's how Americans are. They like personal space. You can see it in their cars, their homes, and how they walk down the street. It's a cultural thing and has little to do with sex/gender. I work with African men all day. They have no problems flopping on each other, standing crotch-to-ass in lines and occasionally they are seen holding hands as they talk. They're cool with it. It's a cultural norm.

It has way less to do with sexuality than it does personal space. Let's say I'm racked out in an army tent on the ground with a dozen other dudes. I don't want a leg over top of mine, I don't want an arm on my chest. Gimmie my damn space. See my first paragraph for background on this behavior.

Actually, a gay man wouldn't be a gay man if he regularly engages in sexual activities with women. Current social nomenclature for sexually omnivorous people is based on these things. We, society, call people who do both, flip-flop between the two sexes or can't make up their mind "bisexual." You can claim that titles are bullshit all you want but they're necessary for identifying and protecting special classes as seen in various equal rights laws. If everybody is equal on paper, you can't say X did something to Y. And if anybody is making sexual preference identification titles a problem these days, it's every little group out there trying to make themselves unique because of how sensitive they are and what type of things they do in the bedroom.

I'm sorry you can't get married yet. I'm sorry you can't get benefits yet. Keep pushing the system.

Until things change? Get your damn sequined strap-on dildo thong out of my sight, fruitcake.

Honestly, I don't care who you're banging with what; just pay your fucking taxes.
