Orientation

I don't think we've ever had a thread/poll catagorizing our orientations so I thought I'd make one. Gay, Straight, Bi, Pan, Queer, Whatever, post your status. Or not, your choice.

Me, I like to think I'm more pansexual than anything. I don't care too much about sex or gender, I'm into a type of person.

Has anyone here ever met an asexual yet?

vicdaman 04-24-2010 07:30 AM

100% straight.

there was a time when i thought, "hey maybe i'm into dudes to and i just don't know because i haven't tried it yet." well i came pretty close to trying and couldn't do it. this was when i came to the conclusion that i really enjoy vaginas and am going to just stick with em.

Salem 04-24-2010 09:15 AM

Jove - I don't think so. I've met someone pretty uninterested in sex, but I wouldn't go so far as to call them asexual.

Maybe. I've met some people that seem to be adverse to sex. Or maybe its relationship adverse. Its not a subject that is easily discussed though, at least casually. With some people they have been raised with so much misinformation and fear of sex it makes it really hard to determine if they are actually asexual or just really fucked up from their upbringing.

This is my story as well, except I did do it (albeit briefly), and it's just not my bag...

Actually, I have. He is in his 60's and is a virgin, and has no interest in sex at all. He claims that not even masturbation interests him, although he will admit to having indulged in that, rarely. I cannot actually say it's true, but that's his claim.

The subject came up during an interesting conversation with a VERY gay guy I know. This guy had never been with a woman, and had no interest. When I asked him why not, he asked me if I had ever considered sex with a guy. I said no, the idea sort of disgusted me (only on a personal level!). He said he felt the same way about women!!

The conversation then ranged all around sex, and this was when the topic of asexuality was broached. Actually was a very interesting evening.

Yup, add another number to the straight category.

I say to myself, it will never happen, I will never meet Matt Damon, but when I do ...

Hahahaha I hadn't even CONCIDERED one Dr. Sheldon Cooper. Touche my friend. You have rocked this category.

curiousbear 04-27-2010 08:59 AM

I am straight.
But I am extremely attracted to bisexual girls and lesbians - Is that an orientation?

levite 04-27-2010 10:54 AM

I really felt tempted to put myself down as "lesbian," because all my friends like to tell me I totally am a lesbian-- many of whom are lesbians themselves.

But I went with "straight." I like dudes, just not that way. And OMG, I could never give up boobies.

Daniel_ 04-27-2010 11:44 AM

I have never personally found men to be sexy, so I posted 100% - but I would like to clarify that by adding I am not repulsed by men, I just never ever EVER saw one in a sexual way. Meh.

Anonymous Member 04-27-2010 01:25 PM

I'm a sucker for men. Though women are great, too. I'm a huge fan of effeminate men, and fanticize over hermaphrodites.

Which leads to the question:
Is the only option that includes hermaphrodites the "pansexual/omnisexual"?

Glory's Sun 04-27-2010 01:48 PM

I'm only gay if Jared Leto is involved.

noodle 04-27-2010 02:29 PM

For me, one of my bestest friends summed it up... "cooter ain't pretty."
To each his/her/their own in my book, though.

Grasshopper Green 04-27-2010 03:48 PM

I'm married to a man, but I've been with a woman and liked it. I don't consider myself bisexual but I'm beyond straight but bi-curious. I don't fit into any of the above pegs.

This is why sexuality is more of a continuum than slots, but you know humans, they love labels.

I really hate labeling myself. I read an interview with Michael Stipe as a teenager that left a profound impression on me. The gist of it was--why do I have to pigeonhole myself with a label? Can't I just love people?

I identify as a bisexual if only to make other people feel better. Personally, I see it as more of a case-by-case basis thing. I'm open. I'm not going to rule someone out as a romantic partner or interest based on their equipment. Obviously, my options are now a bit limited as I'm getting married to a man, but you bet your ass he's glad he has a girl who likes girls :p Checking out boobies together is fun!

orionnebula 04-27-2010 06:19 PM

100% straight and never tought otherwise..

guy44 04-27-2010 08:40 PM

When I was in high school, I think I was admirably open-minded about this question. I got very philosophical - "I mean, how do I know?" Of course, for teenage boys a passing breeze could give you a boner, yet guys never gave me one. So I knew.

Plus, as levite said, "I could never give up boobies."

DaveOrion 04-27-2010 10:07 PM

As Kinsey said, "Males do not represent two discrete populations, heterosexual and homosexual. The world is not to be divided into sheep and goats. It is a fundamental of taxonomy that nature rarely deals with discrete categories... The living world is a continuum in each and every one of its aspects."

I believe the same to be true for females, for what its worth. Just sayin

Dusk 04-30-2010 12:22 AM

I'm floating somewhere on the straight continuum.
