Pride and endowment - is it wrong?
I'm thinking of not posting this since it might make me sound arrogant and conceited, but it's still something that bugs me nonetheless.
It seems with most women I've been with, they've all said I'm thick down there and that I should be "proud" of that. But is it right to be proud of something you didn't choose or work for? I guess the same is true if a woman has, say, an F cup bust. If men she sleeps with say she should be proud of having large breasts, then is she right in feeling such a thing? Isn't it like saying that Obama should be proud of being mixed race? |
Most pride comes from things you have no control over. Patriotism is the idea that one's country is better for having them be born in it. It's the other kind of pride, sure, but it's pride.
I prefer the pride I earn, though. |
Hey, I'm proud of what I got. You don't have to flaunt it, but knowing that you can "hold your own" if it ever.. awkwardly.. came down to it. I suppose it is a valid point of pride.
|
im with will.. the pride that you earn is best. like a flat 6 pack stomach for example. you're born with it, but at the same time -you worked hard to get it.
not sure how a thick cock can be worked on (excuse the pun) to truely make you proud though... scratches head  |

Sound, look at it this way: I was born with a cardiovascular defect known as a coarctation of the aorta. Should I be ashamed of that? I have the genes for alcoholism, too. And obesity (I have to diet and exercise for the rest of my life or I look like John Goodman). Should I feel shame for these?
I kinda doubt it. Be proud that you've been with lovely ladies. Be proud that they developed feelings because of the man that you grew into through hard work and perseverance. That's where the real pride comes in. |

Maybe pride is just an inaccurate choice of words. There's nothing wrong with having a fondness for your body or a particular body part. Being happy that you were born with a favored attribute. |

I will, however, offer this caveat that could be applied (with little word changing): A man with a large dick is like a monkey with a pencil. Just because he has it doesn't mean he knows what to do with it. And that is where pride should come in: knowing how to use both the attributes that came naturally with talents that are practiced. |

From a woman's perspective, I have decent breasts but I cannot say that I have pride over them. I am comfortable with them, certainly not ashamed of my body but pride would not be the word I would use. Content would be more like it. Though the body parts don't really hold the same purpose it is the best comparison I could think of for this thread. |
I'm not just proud of my penis, I worship the thing!
Is that wrong? I don't care. It's my penis and I love it. Whether I worked for it or not. |
be proud of what you have, worked on or not. just don't use it to compensate for a lack of personality/character

i wanted to say that, but i don't think i would have been half as eloquent. edit: speaking of eloquence, this probably won't be. i want to add, pride in the size of your penis or other things that were not choices is silly, and, imho, can be somewhat sad. to be happy with your traits you have no control over, or your country of birth, etc, is something you should hopefully be happy or comfortable with. but things like nationalism is are dumb. i'm very happy to be an american. i'm proud of my country, the things it does and what it stands for. but to proud to be an american, without having doing anything that exemplifies the things america stands for, well, that's false pride. i'm happy with my penis, and proud of my ability to use it (assuming the reality meets how good i think i am!). but to be proud of it's size/shape/texture/ability to fart unicorns, when i had nothing to do with that... in conclusion, if you have a big dick, it's yoru parents who should be proud, cause they created it! eww! |
Back in January, I wouldn't have said that I was "proud" of my dick. But 8 months and 35 pounds later, I'm damn proud of it. Not only did I "gain" about an inch, but the thing gets gets so stiff I'm gonna get the wife a hard hat. I'm also good for the "three times for m'lady" sessions we used to have. Not bad for a 40 year old male, so yeah, I'm proud of it.

Shame on all the naysayers.
You're damn right I'd be proud of it. Hell, if I had a fat dong, I'd pop a viagra every night and put a small cape and crown on it before I went to bed. |
It's impossible for me to take pride in or be ashamed of anything that is a part of me unless I've put in some sort of effort to attain or maintain it. My penis length and girth are merely average, but I know that I am a very attentive lover who takes the time to learn and master what satisfies my partner. I'm proud of being able to give pleasure and don't feel a need to compare myself to other men.
Worth mentioning, it is sometimes unfortunate that certain attributes elicit mockery and attempts at shaming the individual who possesses them. Due to outside pressure, people can be made to feel ashamed over what wouldn't otherwise trouble them, often leading to lowered self esteem, the consequences of which can leak into other areas of that person's life. For instance, I stand at approximately 5'7" and happen to be on the thin side. I was teased throughout grade school for my smaller physique, consistently growing slower than my classmates. The teasing was only worsened by my natural reservedness and disinterest in retaliation, instead causing me to become even more withdrawn, directly leading to anxiety in social situations, and thus setting me back in my development of personal relationships. While I was largely able to overcome the anxiety and feel comfortable with my physical attributes, I can still be very brusque and untactful in social interactions. I had a few close friends throughout the years and some girlfriends, but to this day, I feel as though I'm somewhat behind and have a lot of catching up to do. |
I don't have any particular feelings about my dick size because I'm not getting much use out of it lately and my hands don't care how big it is.
Now when I get it pierced, that's something I'll be proud of. Every time I get drunk I'll be sticking magnets to it through my pants for attention. |

Be proud, be pleased with, be appreciative of... does it really matter? As long as you use it to its potential, be happy. Same goes for race, gender and cup size. Just be happy. |

I think you should be proud of who you are and what you've earned.
I think you should be glad for the things you were given, whether by life or genetics. Two very different things. |
I've been taking credit for having or doing lots of shit I was naturally gifted at my whole life... why should I stop now? :)
|
I didn't realize how well endowed I was until the day I discovered only large sized condoms fit me properly.
After that eye-opening experience, you bet I'm damn proud of what I have! And so are the girls! :) In all seriousness, I'm a bit worried over some of the responses here. Regrettably, we've been conditioned over the years to be humble over what we have. But if you want to be truly successful in life, you need to have the kind of self-esteem that can make you appear arrogant to others. Just look at Bill Gates and especially Steve Jobs. They may be perceived as arrogant s.o.b.'s, but it's that enormous pride in themselves that has made them so successful in life. In terms of body image, that arrogant pride in yourself could be just as vital in establishing and maintaining long lasting stable relationships. How many here would prefer to be with someone strong willed instead of a wimp/wimpette who cowers into a corner? For me, I'd rather go with the strong-willed woman over all others, and not only impress her with my equipment, but also with my technique. And if she becomes a bit aggressive and decides to pin me down for some action, so much the better! |
Be glad for what you've been given, and be proud of what you've accomplished with it. IMO
As one who was not very well endowed by life, I have some envy, but I've also not had any complaints. Probably because I'm willing to do what it takes to finish the job..... I love hard work |

Sure you can feel lucky, glad, and even derive some confidence if you know this is an attractive feature. However being proud to have been born with a big dick is like being proud to not be born with a mental handicap. |

someone should photoshop that into the next "arguing on the internet is like participating in the special olympics, even if you win you're still retarded" picture. |

I gauge my feminity by my breast size? Uh, no I don't and I don't know of any women who do.
Men are obsessed with penises and not just their own. I don't really understand it. |
In my experience, they do. That's one reason why less endowed women get breast implants.
|
Well, I get your point. I've only known two women who have had implants, but I've never talked to them about why they got them. But you're probably right.
Still, it doesn't compare with the obesssion men have with penises. They exhibit a strange anxiety and compulsion to talk about them. |

Many women do associate their sexuality and even femininity with their breasts, which are traditionally a display of fertility. Does that mean all women do? Of course not. Some do. I derive my masculinity from many things, including my mighty procreation rod... but that doesn't mean I'm obsessed. It's just another thing of mine. I also am just as interested in my hands and face, mouth, and brain—albeit in different ways. |
I have a dick. I use it. Women have enjoyed it.
After that... who gives a fuck? |
I'm imagining will preening himself with his tongue. You should try it, its pretty funny.
