Going Against the Height Grain
 

I'm 5'8"... which i guess isn't short, but it's sure not tall... and i've only ever gone out with one girl that was taller than me. it was actually by a lot; she was 6'2 or so. it was... interesting... in bed. we did just fine and had a great time. no position was ruled out. but there were odd things to get used to, for instance in missionary, instead of the usual kissing, i got a face full of considerable boobies. overall i really enjoyed it, and i always thought i would (i'm attracted to tall girls in general). she was surprised that she enjoyed it, she'd never considered shorter men before, but she did.

i'm aware of the conventional wisdom and even the underlying psychology out there..... that when the guy is taller, the girl feels more sheltered and safe naturally,kinda father figure style i guess... and it's pretty much ingrained in us that the naturaly way of coupling is tall guy/short girl....

but i wondered if any tfp'ers had any stories of going "to the other side" and what it was like for them both mentally and physically. i also wondered just how completely most girls rule out dating shorter guys... from minor willies to complete revulsion.

I'm 6-2, so I've never dated anyone taller than me.

Though I might find it interesting cause I truly LOVE tall women. There's something about a woman who's > 5-10 that will always turn my head. Long legs, statuesque, you can put 10 pounds on them and you won't even notice.

I think my tall woman fetish started when I was in University and dated a woman who was 6-0 for years. I loved the fact that her height turned heads.

On the flip side, I've dated a 5-0 nothing woman. She was a sexual dynamo, but being that short was never a good thing in my eyes.

I won't turn a woman down if she's more petite, but I gotta be honest, tall scores points in my eyes.

6'6" here, I was with a small asian girl once. like maybe 5 foot? i dunno. if that.

I went on a date with one girl who was 6'2" and to be honest, I didn't really LIKE that for whatever reason, I guess I'm used to my tallness and I like it that way.

No minor willies. Honestly, it's difficult to find men who are 5'4". I went on a few dates with a guy who was the same height as me. That was nice. I actually really liked the fact that I didn't have to stand on my tip-toes, and he didn't have to crane his neck, to kiss me. He ended up going for a shorter girl, though.

I get all giddy, feeling petite next to my man. Height doesn't necessarily play a role, though Tt is 6'. Thick biceps, muscle tone, and compliments go a long way =)

I'm 6'6" also, so never dated anyone taller than me. I'd probably have to go to Africa for that. I dated a girl who was 5 even though, that was odd in bed..

it's funny though... even girls that i'm a lot taller than (5'0-5'4) seem to prefer a guy to be waaay taller than them than a perfect dancing partner height differential. and yeah, i'm accounting for heels there, unless most heels are more than 4" lol. i wonder why this hard-wiring is so particularly difficult to evolve from.

i notice we still haven't heard from any girls that dated shorter guys, even the taller girls... hmmm.

The man I am seeing is about an inch shorter than I am (I am 5' 7"), but funny thing is, I have never felt taller than him that I can recall, even when I'm in heels. Guess it's a psychological thing.

I'm 6'1" and a similarly tall woman is sexy and fun to .. access while standing. However, a smaller girl has the appeal of being a feisty and agile partner. They're also easier to throw around and position the way you want. Tall girls are a tangle of limbs. However, tall or short, I like it when they push back.

5'2" here, can't find many guys shorter than I am... never been a possibility. I have a habit of standing on my tip-toes to reach up around ktspktsp (5'11"), so sometimes he'll tease my by crouching down and acting like he's my height... and honestly, I would feel slightly weird dating someone my height! (But really, I don't know any guy that short.)

6'3" here, so yeah, same as everyone else. I've dated from 5'1" to 5'8" and my wife is about 5'7"

I don't think I'd rule ANYTHING out, but I definitely prefer guys who are 6' and above. I really think I'd have a problem with a guy who was shorter than me, considering I'm only 5'3.

I'm 5'8" and once dated a guy who was 5'6-7" depending on his shoes. I avoided wearing heels while we dated because while I didn't have a problem with being the taller one, he certainly did, and would complain when I wore heeled shoes.

Well I am 5'11 and I wear heals often so basically I am 6'2. My BF is prolly 5'9 - 5'9.5 and thinner than I too. When we first started dating I wore flats so I wouldn't be intimidating but that didn't last long. Matter o fact most men I have dated were shorter than I am and I dig it. My height commands attention when I walk into a room; whether I want it or not. I enjoy being a big girl (and luckily I am weight proportionate too, 152 lbs) most men have to look me in the eyes when they speak to me.

I can tell ya that we have no problems in the bedroom or anywhere else for that matter and I know he finds my height sexy. There is no concern for security or protection because he would definitely handle any situation that would arise. All in all I think as a couple we're pretty dam hot!

I'm 5'7" and very much into tall women. in a way, it does make things simpler, because short women and women who wont date shorter men are automatically filtered out, leaving more time to focus on that most important category, attractive women who will date me. not that I think a woman shorter than me is necessarily not attractive, but for whatever reason 90% of the time it seems to work out that way, though its not the result of a conscious process.

anyway, my SO is a few inches taller. We don't make a big deal out of it. Nothing more fun to me than blowing up some social expectations, so I love it. Not that there are many expectations for relationships in the SF bay area, we are actually quite vanilla as a natural gender, monogamous hetero couple. :lol: Nobody we've met has seemed surprised or mentioned it. I think the relationship is all the better that it doesn't start with the pretense of me being some sort of protector for her. I prefer an entirely mutual relationship. The only physical issue is sex standing up :rolleyes: but even that works with a porno prop. ;p It's good.

I am 5,11 and currently dating a girl who is about 5,5 i think. I come from a family of tall people, of all the men, i am the shortest. Even though i am not technically short, i would like to be taller.

I prefer women who are shorter than me, but i don't think i've ever consider height. I would date a women regardless of height if she me feel all funny inside and don't seek out women based on height.

I am 5'4 and i have mostly dated girls that are taller than me. ( minus my current GF that is 5'1) I do not feel short, but when in the mirror next to my buddy that is 6'4 i feel short.

I have dated a girl that was 5'9 and we didnt have an issue as far as me carrying her or kissing her. I didnt ever feel the need to tippy toe or anything. I dont see the height issue. though i can picture a 5'4 guy carrying a 5'9 girl could look funny. it doesnt to me i guess.

I am not ugly i dont think, i dress well, I am smart, I am funny, I take care of my family, i can take care of myself, I am well off for my age, (24) compared to my counter-parts, but girls want a tall man. I never figured that out.

I'm 5'8" and almost everyone I've ever been with has been tall(6 feet or over). One guy was 2 inches shorter and it felt weird being out, but two inches isn't enough to say that there were issues horizontally.
The spouse is just under 5'10", so if I wear heels, I'm taller.

My ex was 5'10" and I'm 5'7". At the time, I had no problem with it. Now that I am with my SO who is about 5'5", I realize just how much I HATE being with women that are taller than me.

I've got a short inferiority complex for sure, but being with a taller woman just helped reiterate how much I love petite girls. All of my prior girlfriends were short and average to chubby in build, but now that I am with a short, slender, very athletic woman, well... she turns me on physically like no one I've ever been with before.

I am 6'0", the tallest girl I have ever dated was probably 5'4", so I don't know what its like to date someone even close to being as tall as me.

there are some sexual things that are harder to do, like anything while we are both standing up is difficult.

Lately taller girls (5'7"-5'11") have really been turning my head.

I'm 5'8" and used to resent that women tend to preferred taller men, and thought it was unfair that I had lost out in the gene pool... but then men tend to prefer slim, pretty women, which is unfair to women less fortunate in the gene pool. I can't and shouldn't complain.

I'm 6'2" and the wife is 5'1" the only draw back constantly being asked to get stuff down for her .

We just discovered in another forum I frequent that about three quarters of the regulars are around or over 6'2"

Never would have found out if I hadn't joked that a 6'7" guy was short.

Interesting observation. I'm at over 73 inches and I enjoy my short female companion. She's easy to carry despite her muscular frame and fiesty nature.

Natural selection makes tall guys preferable. We can see farther and thus spot the vicious dinosaurs and lawyers and republicans at a greater distance.

I'm 5'3". I've dated guys from my height all the way up to 6'5". It was really weird dating someone my height, and kind of scary dating the 6'5" guy. If I didn't want to crank my neck back, I was essentially making eye contact with his nipples.

Agreed. Although, every once in a while, it sure is nice to be fucked standing up. I had a bf who was shorter than myself... I am 5'5", he was 5'3".... I didn't really find it that big of a deal, except that I was cognizant of our height difference and did avoid wearing my normal 3 inch heels.

I actually find that it bothered him more than me, since I was one of the only girls who he had slept with that was taller than himself.

If I like who a person is and find them attractive, and my short bf was really hot lol, height doesn't really play into it.

that being said, my husband is 6' and I like that he is so tall, but mostly because he has a really lean body type and I am attracted to that, my gf is exactly my height, which makes it fun to kiss her standing up, because bam! there her lips are right there! :)

Being 5'10.75" I find that tall men appreciate and love me and shorter men not so much. The man I dated who was shorter was Houseboat, who stood in at 5'10.50". Hes the one who ended up in the drink. The tussle was due to the height differential. Tpop is 6'4" and used to pick me up and carry me all over.

I've almost always dated guys who were taller. The shortest guy I dated was my height (5'6") and I didn't really like it. The tallest guy was 6'5" and I didn't really like that much either. My favorite height is 6'0" exactly. Tall enough that I can wear heals and still feel proportionate, but not so tall that there is significant craning and stretching while kissing. I also like how that height allows me to fit under their arm when walking arm in arm.

I never really thought that I was discriminating against shorter guys, but I guess I was.

All you need to do is come to Portugal, plenty of men shorter than that, because that is my height and I see men shorter than me every single day!

Also, the women here tend to be tiny, so it works out well for them. For me, sometimes it's tough finding a guy I fancy who is taller than me, not that they don't exist, but most men here are my height, just a little taller, or shorter. Not many giants around lol. I generally prefer men to be taller if I'm going out with them, it feels weird if he's shorter. That's not how I like it, I can't help myself.

5'11". I've never dated anyone taller, but then I don't know many women taller than me. One of my best friends is my height, but she's one of my best friends. No sexin' going on there.

The trend I'm seeing is that short men and tall women tend to be less picky, which I'd think is simple pragmatism. If you're a dude who's 6' or taller, you're probably not going to encounter many women taller than you to begin with.
