I was just discussing safe words with my friend and it occurred to me that I hadn't chosen one for my current relationship.

For those of you that engage in bondage and dominance play, I'm just curious what some of the safe word that you use are? And what's the story behind it if there is one? Also, are any nonverbal signals that you use?

My current safe word is "uncle", it just makes sense to me and it's easy to say. Given that "uncle" is often used as a type of nonsexual safe word, I can definitely remember it. I don't have a nonverbal signal as of yet.

I've only had two relationships where B&D was so frequent a sex treat that a constant safe word was necessary.

In the first, the safe word was "coffee" which was an inside joke between us as to having first played role playing games as foreplay when we met at a coffeehouse.

In the second, the word was "Joshua," which was the name of her previous boyfriend whom she didn't like.

I tend to think that good safe words recommend themselves....

Good to have them, though! Smart thinking, safe playing!

Ever since that Family Guy episode dealing with drugs in schools, I've adopted "banana" as my safety word if I ever need it.

We've never used a safe word and thus far I've never felt the need to use one. But then again, we aren't too big on pain play - some, but not a lot. If there's a problem with a cuff or something...I just say so.
