Weeping Rock, Zion National Park.
For those of you who aren't familiar with it, Weeping Rock is one of the most crowded trails and viewpoints in all of Zion. Actually, it's probably THE most crowded trail. It's short, and the payoff is good. And one late evening during Spring Break, the payoff was VERY good... We had taken one of the last park shuttles in to Zion, and figured we had just enough time to do Weeping Rock before it got fully dark. We were the only people on the shuttle, and we had to use our headlamps to make our way up the trail. The end of the trail, and the viewpoint, faced back down the way we came up. We knew we were the only ones on the trail, and we knew we'd see the light of anyone coming up after us. And so we had this spot, one of the most crowded, tourist-laden spots in Zion National Park (on a holiday weekend no less!), all to ourselves. As we made love, we could see Zion Canyon layed out below us, and it was dark enough that we could clearly see Orion running across the sky between the canyon walls. What a night! And we made it back down just in time to catch the last shuttle out of the park.
