This maybe a little off topic of what you're asking but...

A recent major move had me either storing or selling off a large percentage of my possessions. After deciding what I could not part with I set about listing everything else on every free board I could find. This included CL. One day a guy shows up to buy my boat. I get to talking with him and he comments how much he loves CL. Says he can find anything and everything on there. Women, drugs, you name it. Said he wouldn't be surprised to find a hit man for hire on CL. Later that night I found my way over to CL PDX. I start looking at the ads for, well hookers. I start seeing terms I've simply never heard before. Sure all the normal stuff like French, straight, Greek... you get the idea. But I also read a bunch of stuff I never heard before. One of the terms that puzzled me was "birdwatching." Scratching my head and wondering what this had to do with sex I found my way to a glossary of terms. There I found my answer. Turns out, for those who don't already know, "Birdwatching" is basically a BJ... no spitting allowed. The term "down the hatch" was listed as part of the explanation. So I logged this new term into my memory bank and forget about it.

OkCupid is pretty good, I'd say. You can tell who is real based on the number of questions and the quality of their profile / presence of pictures.

There are numerous dating sites out on the internet that deal with specific regions, specialized interests or hobbies (robotic republicans, motorcyclists, sports junkies, people named Cuthbert, videogamers), as well as the sleazy super-anonymous Craigslist jungle. I don't recommend CL.
