Affects of menopause on sex life.
I Saw this article in the news paper, and I found it rather interesting for a few different reasons.
A) I'm quite surprised that the mining industry and a bunch of coalminers in the Hunter Valley are trying to tackle this issue. I think it's a great thing, I'm all for blokes starting to tackle issues like this, and I'm all for industry helping people to do this because they recognize a happy worker is a productive one. B) Being quite young, the issue of menopause and it's affects on a sexual relationship is just not something I've ever had to think about. So I guess I'm kinda keen to hear peoples experiences and perspectives on it, just out of curiosity. So here is the article, taken from here Quote:

Wait a second, I resemble that remark.....
My wife has been going through "the change", and I can tell you that if Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy, especially me. Fortunately, she's just now getting healed after back surgery, and seems to be on the tail end of menopause, so she's up for discussing things in the bedroom again. We still have issues, such as vaginal dryness and burning/discomfort during intercourse, but we're going to try a few things and see if we can't get back in the saddle without resorting to a doctor. (The internet is truly a Godsend if you ask me....) Anyhow, I say good for those miners. They should make all men go through classes for menopause. (And maybe classes for women to teach them how men work....

I've been going thru it for 3 years and I'm NOT SNAPPY, DAMMIT
Ahem... There are OTC things that counteract the dryness; the 'burning', as I unfortunately found out, is due to thinning vaginal walls. They're losing their elasticity. Just take your time-your 'juices' will lubricate everything and then it's back to normal. Every woman is different, so results may vary. My boss is just a few months older than me and it's like working for Sybil-I don't know what is going to walk through the door. It's a shame that women of age think it's time to hang up the sex; my best friend's wife announced on her 50th birthday she was "done with sex and all that"...WTF? |
