Baraka_Guru, that's exactly right. Thanks.

I don't doubt that Ballzor is a heaping spoonful of All American goodness. If others look at him, see that his skin is a different colour than theirs and assume that, because of this, he must *insert racial stereotypes* then it's certainly a question of multiculturalism. They assume that he is a certain way because of his skin colour and, despite the fact that few or none of their assumptions may be true, they use these assumptions to justify not interacting with him. If they would interact with him I'm sure they'd realize that he's thoroughly American. It's a matter of breaking past that initial barrier.

Seems to me as if you're ashamed of what/who you are.

My $.02 on the matter.

Multiculturalism has a direct reference to the idea of identity politics, including the colour of one's skin. It is an issue of multiculturalism and its acceptance, because he feels he is being singled out by the colour of his skin not his brand of Americanness. Sure he's American, but people might see the Indian first, and this is tied into a number of things unrelated to being a particular nationality.
Multiculturalism lead to the segregation currently in France, and I think we all know how that's going.

Oh yeah, 'cause NOTHING else comes into play. Right.

Yeah, I know. I think France should have adopted the Canadian model.

What would you say led to the segregation in the south?

Honestly, you can't really change anyone's first judgements. I mean, it's about their personality and how they view people. You'd have to change your skin tone to acheive this.

If a girl doesn't like you the way you are, she's obviously not the right one. Your race is something people should be accepting of, in my opinion.

Have you ever dated someone who isn't white?

Lets face it, physical attraction is probably the most important factor in initiating relationships, and if someone isn't physically attracted to you, then regardless of their perceptions of your culture or personality, it's not going to work out. Trying to 'convince' attraction is an exercise in futility. I have the opposite problem, white people can be scarce around here and I'm generally only attracted to white girls, I don't think I'm a racist, I don't think any less of them as people, I just don't want to have a sexual relationship with them. So to some extent it's going to be difficult and there just isn't much you can do about it. Such is life. On the upside, you can be assured that somewhere out there in Virginia are some girls who will be particularly attracted to you; you just have to find them. Just like any relationship, once you've figured out the physical attraction, then you move on to personality and that's where you can do your work, but maybe not much you can do in the beginning.

I don't know what kind of girls you are meeting, but I LOVE foreign men. I always have and have always had the best times with those type of men!!! Seriously, they are the most kind truthful and pleasing men.... I love men who are white, but I have a preference for men who are NOT white. I'm currently dating a Ugandan and have been with him for two years...He's wonderful. We met in a bar...so you just never know when you may meet a girl who's up for the 'ride'. Don't be so hard on yourself...it's about the naive and ignorant women who are missing out!
