Ladies - What do you think about facial hair?

This isn't really a call for advice, mostly just curiosity. Normally, I like having some facial hair - it makes me feel masculine. But frankly, I'd take felling a *woman* over feeling masculine any day of the week; and so I ask, what do the lovely ladies of the TFP think about facial hair on men? Do you appreciate some fuzz, or a clean-shaken face?

TotalMILF 07-25-2007 10:28 PM

I much prefer my man to have a clean shave :) Facial hair is not attractive to me, and sometimes it can... chafe. Ouch.

TheCrumblenaut 07-25-2007 10:52 PM

My girlfriend has expressed her distaste for facial hair, mostly due to the scratchiness of it. She's said she doesn't mind how it looks (if properly groomed), but that kissing isn't as pleasant.

I always thought I looked better with facial hair, but when I shaved on a whim one day, one of my friends told me I looked good. I know it wasn't anything else because I had gained about 20 pounds since I had last seen her. Maybe it's dumb to base my appearance on a quick comment made by someone who I rarely see more than every month or two, but nobody has told me I looked better with the goatee or beard, so I've kept it off.

Okay - depending on the person, facial hair is usually a good thing in *my* book. I like a lot of the goatees etc I see. That said, unless you're really going for it, no matter how cute I think the scruffy thing might be, that HURTS in anything more energetic than a chaste kiss. So it's either long enough to be a softer bristle (and thus possibly useful and fun) or clean shaven.

/thinks guys should have to kiss other guys to understand ouchy bristle

I've had two women seriously tell me they didn't mind the goatee. We'd joke about its virtue of tickling the thighs.

My fiancee in particular said it "freaked her out" when I would kiss her after first shaving it off... because she wasn't used to feeling the clean-shaven face.

For the record, after over a year, I've just this week started to grow it back.

My boyfriend wears a beard intermittently and I like him both ways. The beard is a little scratchy, but it doesn't bother me...I think it looks sexy. Then again, I just think he looks sexy.

clean shaven. It's just scratchy with a beard, no matter how good it looks. Unless its well groomed, then it just looks like you couldn't take the time. I love touching soft facial skin on men.

Impetuous1 07-26-2007 05:13 PM

I can go either way. My boyfriend has a beard but that's because he looks better with it than without it.

ColonelSpecial 07-26-2007 05:54 PM

I am cool either way but the time between about two days without shaving and five days without shaving are the worst because everything is so scratchy. Aftar five days though it is totally cool.

My boyfriend has some fuzz and I like him like that. I get poked every so often but it's not unbearable and I actually kind of like the sensation it adds when he's going down on me.

Then again, the day he shaves is like a special treat since I don't feel his soft skin very often. The reasoning for him is that he's just lazy and doesn't want to shave every day.

Basically why I don't shave. I'll trim my beard every so and shave my neck every so often. But all in all, it comes down to the fact I just really hate shaving my face. My skin is ridiculously soft and sensitive (yes yes, I am a girls blouse :p), and shaving irritates the crap outa me.

Sultana 07-27-2007 06:58 AM

I prefer hair free, depending on the the face, I guess. It's nicer to touch. A well-trimmed mustache or goatee wouldn't turn me off, but it can make it harder to navigate.

Full-blown beards are right out. I've never seen a guy whose appearance was improved by a full beard. Sorry.

Scruff is awesome. I think it makes men look very masculine, or you might even call it MACHO! On the other hand, I don't like it when men have only a few facial hairs. It looks strange to me!
