I've got a stamp...does that make me a tramp?

I really don't care if anyone thinks that I am or not. I'm not around to impress people I don't know. And the people I am friends with I don't have to impress. They don't judge me based on the fact that I have 2 tattoos. I got them for me, and I can't speak for everyone, but I wasn't looking for anyone's approval when I got them.

I see where people come from when they say they prefer natural and whatnot. It boils down to the fact that it is a personal preference. I don't see much room for discussion on this topic personally.

I would have to agree with you on this. My fiancée is a belly dancer, and has her name in Arabic script across her hip. It follows her body so well that it looks like it belongs there.

I love a good tattoo on a woman when it accents her body rather than being just "stuck on" somewhere. Like the lower back. While a tattoo can be placed somewhere because it symbolizes something important in their life, i find the former more aesthetically pleasing. At it's most base level, a tattoo is art. When you put one on your body it should look like a work of art, making best use of both the medium (your body) and the message (it's symbolism, or statement), combining the two and enhancing both.

Some girl putting a pretty flower or butterfly on her lower back with a tribal design on either side is not doing either of these things and also did not put much thought into it, simply seeing some on other (hot?) girls with one and it percolating downwards to the thought that if they had one too they would be more attractive as well. Or at least that's the way it seems to me.

I think i'm with WK here as far as taste goes. While I've never experienced a girl with more than 1, when I go to shows or in the right parts of the city and I see chicks with some nice pieces on their chest or back, arms, that shit turns me on so much for some reason. Not really sure why, I don't have a single tattoo myself.

Additionally I used to see this girl that had two guns on her hips, angled down sticking into her pants, aiming towards the promise land. That shit is pure gold.

I understand how some people may not find tattoo's attractive, I have my own things that turn me off on men (long fingernails, business suits, etc). More than anything though, men who are judgemental turn me off. I don't have a pigeon hole that I put non-tattooed people in, I don't have one for persons with tattoo's either. I have been into tattoos since I was a child, and wanted one for as long as I could remember. I was finally able to get my first at 16 after years of hounding my mum. I am 24 now and have 5. Generally no one knows about them (ie: not on face, hands) and tend to be suprised that I am tattooed, which I don't understand either. Anyways, I don't regret any of my tattoos. I have had people ask me, don't you think you will regret that when you are 70 and wrinkled? My answer always is, when I am 70 and wrinkled I doubt I will be very happy with my body and showing it off, tattooed or not. I have a tramp stamp. I really hate that it is called that, although I do know many girls who have them and fit the name. They are disinterested in tattoos and got them for fact that they thought it would be daring and attractive. I don't care if people find my tattoos unattractive, to each their own. What does bother me is the judgement that comes along with it. Not that it bothers me that much, I wouldn't want to be with someone who judged someone for being tattooed anyways!

To me, a tramp stamp isn't just any tattoo placed at the bottom of the back.
It's when the tattoo is just something that a girl got just to have a tat there, because it "looks cool", or something. Of course, you can't really know if a tattoo really means something to the person unless you ask.

i have a tattoo on the back of my hip. i liked it at the time but i wish i had planned it better and drew the picture myself or went to a better tattoo artist. it's kinda fading a little now but i don't hate it i just wish it was done better.

If you find a really great tattoo artist, you may be able to get it covered with something you really like and not even know. I have one on my calf, and the original did not turn out the way I had pictured, so I got a cover done and you can't even tell. Now it's beautiful and I'm so very happy with it. If I could figure out how to post a pic I would so you could see that you can get a cover without seeing the original.

i think i may go and consult the tattoo artist the everyone round here goes to. my friend went to this particular tattoo place and got a tat of his daughter and his dad and both his tattoos look amazingly life-like. but i'm going to have to wait because i'm in so much debt at the moment :grumpy: :)

Thanks arctic cat, the picture is unfortunately fuzzy and does not show the awesome lines and details within the flowers or the vibrancy of the colour, but hopefully gave you a basic idea of what a cover can do. I'd ask for some before and after shots of covers, to give you an idea of what the artist is capable of completing. I know what you mean about the debt though ;) Let me know if you do get something done :)

what was the original that you had covered?

the one i have now is a sunflower, the colour peeled off in a matter of days of getting it done. so now i just have a slightly fuzzy outline of a sunflower. can the colour over black outlines?

Hey arctic cat! The original was this outline of a flower/sun type shape with tie dye type colours filling it. Needless to say, not what I had wanted. So it did have outline and they can find ways to use the lines or make them not very visible. I have to look really close and for a few minutes before I can see one of the lines that was part of the original. Anyone else would have no clue. It is quite amazing what a good tattooist can accomplish. My original tattoo was quite small in comparison to this, but I am way happier with the larger size and of course the outcome of the design. It looks small to me in that picture, but it takes up a fair amount of space on my calf.

I love tattoos on women..I am a woman and I have two..one on my wrist and one on my upper arm. I love when making love to a woman I discover the tats as I unlayer her...and as I turn her and move her around..like the prize inside the cracker jack box. To me, its the extra thoughtfulness she has gone thru to adorn her body, to please me. To whisper almost silently stories about herself. I sometimes will stop and admire and ask her to tell me about the tat...I like to talk when making love...sometimes she gets to finish the story, sometimes not. Regardless...she knows I am noticing...and to a woman, it means everything...

I love whatever a woman loves about herself...and if she put that there, she must love it...I want to know of it...

My wife has a tat full of various flowers and thin wispy lines across her lower back and right ribcage. I love it, as it's unique and pretty. Some of it was done freehand as well, so there is no way there is another like it in the world, which we both value as individualists.

Well, ten or twelve years ago women with tattoos were on the edge. New. Exciting. Boldly going... Now?? Just part of the herd.

I read that tattoo parlors do their best business right after the bars close. I wonder if that is true.

one of my girlfriends was a (quite famous) tattoo artist and yes its true but a good artist and shop never tats when someone has alcohol motivation. Their reputation is at stake. Her art work travels around and people talk about it wherever it travels and if they say they were dead ass drunk when they got it and regret it, no one goes to her or the shop for a tat.

Tat shops are no longer (or shouldnt be) seedy hole in the walls with no licensures. They take great pride in their reps for cleanliness and ethics as well as their artwork.

this is really a non-issue, there are so few reasonable places for people to get tattoos, your arms, your back and your legs are really all you have available, your chest/frontside isn't really an option for everyone unless those people happen to be comfortable with that aspect of their body (not a lot of people are) and it varies greatly based on gender.

I once wanted to get the word "tramp" in rubber stamp-esque font on my lower back. I wanted to be ironic, but then I remembered I wasn't a hipster.

I think some are ok, some woman are not over done with them. Say if they have one that has a meaning to them for some reason. I dont really like girls with tattoos everywere, there arms, legs.

If someone's appearance convinces you they are a serial killer, you will not sleep with them because, damn, you could get stabbed. If you think that guy over there looks like a CEO, you don't want to piss him off because he might be hiring you someday. If a woman looks and dresses like a supermodel, well, she's probably not a prostitute. People judge because it's useful, not because it's right.

A girl can choose to do whatever she wants with her body, but whatever she does has direct effects on her attraction level. If she snacks a lot and does not exercise, no one has any right to judge her; but they do. As her weight changes, the overall volume of men who find her attractive diminishes.

I do not find tattoos attractive, thus even if I'm the only man in the world who decides not date her because she has decided to get a tat, she has made a conscious decision to limit her potential suitors. Her division will prove wise only if, for the rest of her life, she never finds a single suitable tat-hating man.

And you would be served an assault charge. In movies, bad guys often get floored because the good guy easily goads them into striking first. This is because civilized people respond on a higher level than their adversary. If they insult your wife, you tell them they have made a brash error and berate them for their obvious lack of intelligence and social wits. If they throw a punch, then you throw a nuke.

If I was across the room and saw a guy attack someone else, I'd take out his knees, then put them into a choke/lock until the situation can be sorted out.

Me too. I think I remember this thread but apparently I never replied.

This is the same with men and women for me. I like tattoos that are well done and work with the person's anatomy. Those are the superficial requirements at least. In the end the concept behind the tattoo will always be important. I've seen a lot of people with tattoos I hate, and I've seen a few that I absolutely adore.

I myself have two tattoos and will probably get more. One of which is a large piece that covers most of my spine. People give me a hard time about having a tramp stamp until they realize that the bottom part that you can sometimes see above my jeans is connected to the top which is visible above my collar. If someone thinks I'm unattractive because if my ink or piercings, for that matter, then I probably don't want to have anything to do with him or her anyway.

I have debated getting a tattoo. It would be a hebrew phrase on the left side of my ribcage that says "if i am not for myself who would be for me" but I am not sure because i am afraid about regretting it.

I like tattoos. It's body art to me. But like many of the arts, there is some really bad work out there. It's a matter of taste.
