Piercing: Sign of a Slut?
 

So this past Saturday I got my nose pierced. I all kinds of love it! I was talking with some online buddies (male) with whom I have a semi-flirtatious relationship with (OK, they're members of my guild in WoW... I'm a geek I know) and they said that it pretty much "sealed the deal" that I was a slut (which we've joked about before.)

Is this a widely held opnion that a girl with piercings is gonna put out? Not that I mind the "slut" label... because it's true... but living in Asheville I guess I've gotten desensitized to piercings, tattoos, and the ilk. I can understand if she's got nipple piercings or genital piercings- since those are regarded as being sexually enhancing, but a nose piercing??

I think opinion about a piercing - promiscuity correlation has to do solely with personal experience. My little sister has a nose piercing. Therefore, girls with nose piercings NEVER HAD SEX AND NEVER WILL. :)

Piercings only relate to how "rebellious" a person is, how much they want to differenciate themselves from the "norm." That by some people is transfered to mean sexual open-ness. If you live in a small town people will probably talk (that's what small towns do), if you're in a city no one will give a crap.

Ahhh I voted No....only for the fact that I agree with Kadath that promiscuity is relation to a personal experiences.

If those are consider slut stuff, then someone help me. I just restarted my life recently and I plan on getting a bellybutton tattoo and ring. I'm 30. It's something that I've wanted for a long time, just never acted upon it.

So, if it's going to label me that way.... so be it. It won't be how I feel about myself.

I think there are a lot of other factors that go into determination of the relative sexual promiscuity of a chick, and tats/piercings is only one of them. as mentioned above, there probably is a correlation between piercings and rebellious behavior, and in our society having wanton sex is sort of rebellious - so maybe there's some overlap.

all i can say is: if you're going to get your tongue, then learn to suck some dick. that's the only one that has ever pissed me off. perhaps that's a different story altogether.

I never really thought about it until now, but.... it depends on where the piercings are. A nose, no biggie, a clit, then on the road to slutdom i guess. They are sort of like tattoos, but by no means an indicator.

I had my tongue pireced for a while (and actually managed to keep it hidden from my parents). It was decorative. It did not have a double meaning. Some people took it as decoration, and some took it to be a declairation of sexuality. It was not intended as the latter.

If I had a Prince Albert, they would have been justified in thinking it was sexual in nature (or I was masachistic).

Piercings are not an indication of sexual promiscuity. Being the star of a porno is. I know several girls that have body piercings and would in no way be labeled sluts.

I wish there was a reply between yes and no. In my experience, people with piercings other than in the ears typically means they're open to new things and aren't the typical stuck up blue-blood type. I'd say that it ups their willingness to have sex and try other cliche things like drinking and drugs, but it's by no means a sure-fire precursor. In short, I've never met a person with piercings that was a virgin, but I know plenty of people with them that don't wantonly sleep around either.

I voted yes, because clearly piercings indicate the girl just loves to fuck.

We need to remember that our bodies, as well as our souls, have been redeemed and belong to God. Would God want a tattoo? I THINK NOT.

Clearly piercing your body is a sure sign of sluttery.

Piercings have nothing to do with sexuality. I'd even argue that unless you specifically get a clit, nipple, cock piercing for enhancing sex, they don't mean anything except you like the look, feel, pain whatever.

Perhaps you should have your WoW buddies clearly define slut.

The problem, obviously, is asking a bunch of WoW players the definition of a slut.

Questions directed to WoW gamers should be limited to gaming and porn.

It would have been easier if the poll wording wasn’t so absolute. In the spirit of the question I leaned towards "yes".

In my opinion, someone with body piercings is more likely to be adventurous and experimental, especially with their body. When I see piercings my imagination takes over on what else/where else… and I project the label but NOT in a negative sense! And it’s not absolute: an Indian woman on the plane last week with a nose stud was just a cultural thing, in my mind.

Again: it’s all my perception. (Tattoos often project the same image to me.)

For WoW players to know what a "slut" is, wouldn't they have to leave their moms' basements?

If Slut = Sexually reckless, then no. That's just silly.

It demonstrates a need for attention or wish to "stand out", (and you can apply a negative or positive spin to that depending on your prejudice) but I see no connection to sexual behaviour.

It's interesting that "rebelliousness" is the marker (rather than slut) that is used above. I would argue that someone engaging in any piercing other than ears, anytime before 1990 would be rebellious. After 1992, they were just being trendy (regardless of what their parents believe).

As for being a marker of sluttishness? I don't see it as being a marker of sluttish behaviour anymore than say, wearing clothing that reveals cleavage or a shapely leg.

I've know some very promiscuous women (I hesitate to use the word slut) who looked like they stepped out of the secretary pool at a law firm.

Nah, I don't think piercing has anything to do with sexual randyness because I had my ears pierced, nose pierced and tongue pierced all before I gave up my virginity! I got all of my piercings because I liked the way they looked. In my experience it was only people who didn't have any piercings or who had never had sex so basically they had no clue!

I have to say, some of the biggest sluts I've known were incredibly conservative
dressers. So your online "friends" really need a reality check.

First off, I think the word slut is so arbitrarily defined from person to person that it has lost any meaning it once had...

Secondly, while I'm sure there is some correlation between piercings and sex (people who get pierced up are more likely to be "rebels", and "rebels" fuck more...), pretty much every piercing can be explained as decoration.

I have nipple rings and they were 100% for me in a non-sexual way. This doesn't stop everyone from believing I'm into kinky shit nor does it stop people from playing with them.

you are what you are, and a nose ring or anything else doesnt make you a slut. Some people may see that as a a sign, but then again people see alot of things as signs that really dont mean anything other than someone like to look pretty hot etc. You are how you feel and what you want to be. If you get piercings in your private parts because you like the feel during sex, and it's visually arousing, and you are in a relationship with someone, then how could you be a slut?

My ex had her tongue pirced three times. Among many other body parts not seen by most of the world... although in her case they were.

Maybe some people who have piercings are "sluts" but some people who have no piercings are also "sluts". I think that it may be a factor but not the determining one.

Personally I've got three piercings and I'll be getting more and some tattoos in the future, I'm very sexual but that's not what drives me to get many of the piercings or tattoos so I don't know why they would automatically label you as a slut.

But hey, I know alot of people that play WoW (including my boyfriend and my family) and not all of them are geeks..just alot. :P

Slut isn't a good word to use here. While one might think a slut is someone who will have sex with anyone.. others might be thinking of slut as a girl who will have sex before marriage.

A girl with piercing (not counting normal ear piercings) is a easier lay then a girl without.

I'm gonna also say that girls who smoke, have tattoos, dye their hair, or get fake tans are also more "slutty" then girls who don't.

I have 11 piercings and 2 tatoos. No, not all of my piercings are above the neck. I have never cheated in my life nor do I plan to. I have never been a slut. At 30 years of age I can count my sexual partners on one hand.

I have seen hundreds of people nude. Does this make me a pervert? No. I worked in a nursing home for several years and it was part of my job to bathe people.

Then again... perception is reality to some.

The only thing I have now or have ever had pierced is my ears. I was promiscuous a decade ago; now I'm monogamous.

I voted no because I've never seen a correlation between having piercings and being promiscuous, but there may be one going the other way, I'm not sure.

In other words, it may be possible that women who have a lot of sex with multiple partners are more likely to get unusual piercings, but not necessarily that women with a lot of piercings have a lot of sex with multiple partners.

It's possible for A to be correlated with B without B being correlated with A, depending on the relative sizes on the populations.

My ex had her clit pierced, she did it probably 2 years into our relationship, and we stayed together for another 3.5 years after that. I was her first. I certainly don't consider her a slut. I might say it may be fair to say that there's some sort of correlation between number of piercings and the sexuality of someone, however in no way do i think it makes someone a slut.

I voted never really thought about it. BUT as a WoW player and a normal well adjusted person. I don't think a. there is anything wrong with being a slut male or female. and b. I don't think in my opinion they do have a corelation. My girlfriend has her nose pierced and recently started playing WoW aswell. IS definately not a slut. (althought I wouldn't mind if she were a bit dirtier haha)
