Condom Problems...
Okay here is the situation. The lady was on birth control and we did not use condoms while having sex. The BC was causing problems with her lady flow and so she got off it and is in the process of talking to a doctor. We switched to using condoms but so far I can't even wear them, I go soft pretty soon after wearing them. I just don't feel anything with the ones I have tried, no warmth or anything and it just kills me. Plus I think I just dont like the condom itself, my penis doesnt seem to agree with them... I can be hard as a rock and then 5 seconds after putting it on I go limp. I was using Trojan sensi-thin condoms and havent tried any other brands or anything. Anyone else out there have a similar problem? I was thinking that it might be the latex not agreeing with me or something but have not tried any other condoms.

Well....there's always the polyurethane variety. Trying one of those would be worth a short, if only to see if the problem is latex-related.
|
I've had similiar issues, don't think it's a latex thing, just the lack of stimulation and the constriction, and everything went south. Got quite frustrating - had to stop and resume foreplay and get another condom. Everything would normally be right soon after taking the condom off.
I've used the the ribbed durex ones, they seemed to be the best so far. |
I used to have the same problem until relatively recently.
I was confronted by a 'sized' selection of condoms and didnt know what to do. Here in the UK, condoms don't normally come 'sized' so I knew I was broader than the average bear and plumped for the large, extra large and extra extra large varieties. Hey, A guy can dream, right? Anyway, I tried the large, which was the same-as-ever instant loss of erection blah blah blah problems. So I moved to the Extra large, which was marginally better, but still quite horribly tight and couldn't really feel so much. It also split - a common occurance in my history of condom usage. Now.. I tried the XXL model. Works like a dream. Its not so excrutiatingly tight, so its all much better. They've never split, never caused any ingame 'too-quick' or 'too-slow' issues and I can suddenly feel things, even though they seem to be just standard thickness condoms. So, my advice is this, go find yourself some alternatively sized or shaped condoms. It might just work. Everybody gotta have a dream, whats your dream? ;) |
In my experience Trojans of any variety are the least pleasant type of condoms... they feel thicker and more like a rubber glove to me.

I know from our experiences that the polyurethane ones are a WORLD of difference in sensitivity and warmth transfer

Thanks for all the feedback guys, I think I will probably try out some polyurethane ones and see how they work.

As a maker of Condoms I guess this thread is my back yard!
Shannon's right - Non-latex are fantastic. A standard latex condom is 0.080mm thick - an extra thin condom is ~0.040mm, and a thick (extra safe, extra strong, etc) are about 0.120mm. Our non-latex condom is 0.015mm thick. As an example, that's about the difference between a bin liner and cling film. Another thing you could try is to add a water based lube to the inside of the condom before you put it on. And a final option is to try Femal Condoms - they are non-latex, although not as thin as a male non-latex condom, but some people find them ideal. If anyone has any other condom related questions, feel free to ask them here, or PM me. ;) |
Female Condoms are much less reliable than their male counterparts.
No sexism intended. ;) |
Yeah, my problem when we started using condoms at first was the fact that I had problems with medication and it was impossible to come without in the first place. When I went off of it and I started using them again I found that I felt very uncomfortable.
I went to see a doctor (which some people on this board may find shocking ;)) and he told me to try a larger brand. My penis isn't long so much as it is thick. I tried a larger brand and a "thinner" feel. Works really well. Also, you may want to try the warming solution KY on the inside of the condom. I'm allergic to it but it felt fucking amazing until the next morning when I was in pain and itchy. Quote:

Putting a little lube in the end of the condom- not so much that it slides off, just a little tiny bit- always helped Martel because it meant that the condom itself was sliding and giving him sensation.
Also, I would recommned getting a condom sampler from condomcountry.com or goodvibes.com - It helped a LOT for Martel and I to finally decide on the condom that worked best for both of us! |
I would recommend self-practice with condoms on until everything is working properly again.
Also, keep in mind that poly condoms stretch less, so you might need to buy bigger ones than you would normally use if they were latex. |

This is not totally true - the female condom is at least as effective as male latex condoms if used correctly. The most common cause of problems is people not taking them out correctly and getting the semen back into the vagina. If they didn't work properly, the regulators wouldn't let us sell them. |

Daniel_, is there a brand of female condoms you recommend? We wanted to try some but don't have any experience with them. |
Fortunately I don't need them anymore. What about lamb skin - I can't remember the brand name. They were a little more expensive, but...
|
I should look around at different kinds, but i have an entire 12 pack left and my SO is going to be getting an IUD soon. Yay! :D

Okay its been a while, was out of town for 3 weeks so didnt have any sex the whole time. Now that I am back I tried buying some non-latex condoms (damn expensive, cost me 15 bucks for 5). But they seemed to work okay. Not as good as no condom but I stayed erect and could feel it. I can't remember the exact name of the ones I got as they are at the GF's right now but they were durex avanti or something.
