cutting waste?
the fat was gone a long time ago. muscle is cut...in districts around here, they're cutting bone. class sizes are going up drastically, class offerings being reduced. after school services gone... building and maintaining good public schools prevents: crime, poverty, excessive social inequality, loss of jobs overseas... good education matters...and i simply do not see the NCLB, especially the completely unfunded NCLB, doing anything to help.

That's an extra problem. It actually costs more to educate kids in poor districts than in the more affluent because of security and crime problems.
That's a double burn. Less money + more expensive kids. Then if a school starts to lag, the decreased funding mandated through NLCB actually makes the school more likely to fall farther and faster. |
