Media Research Center Analysis
Now I'm not certain of the credentials of the MRC, but an entertaining read if nothing else.
Media Research Center Releases “The Ten Worst Media Distortions of Campaign 2004” I particularly dug the Good Economic number section. Discussion fodder at least. Actually, looking at this thing it does have a huge dose of slant. Stupid non-profits. Profit Damn you! So I can see where you're coming from! I love it when the media blasts the media. I get so confused.... someone hold me. Heh they even managed to get liberal, and elite in the same paragraph. I don't know any liberal elite Democrats, or Republicans either for that matter. I don't seem to mind the poor lower-caste members of either group though. -fibber |
I know that there is bias in the media. That being said, i think the MRC is one of those organizations that can see bias everywhere except right under their nose. Irony is complaining of bias with bias.

Totally slanted.....information cherry picked, but mostly accurate....I think Bush already won, didn't he?

Always
You both hit it right on the head.
The old fight fire with fire axiom seems to be the law of the land today. Coming from someone who feels ostricized by both parties, I'm completely taken aback this year by the polarity of the body-politic. Most disconcerting to me are the great generalizations made by both sides in this ...... we can't really call it debate can we? ..... lets say Bout of Roe-sham-beau. I came from an extremely small community, boasting both blues and reds, but none of us could honestly think that either side was actually 100% wrong or right. We also knew that if we excluded any member of the community for his beliefs, that the group as a whole would inevitably suffer. The states always amazed me at how we generally don't have 2, but 2000 sides on every issue. I find that enthralling. But I get distraught at the fact that the goal of so many this year was to beat that 2k down to 2 again. That being said, having not seen any non-biased reporting either-way in a couple years, maybe objective journalism is just boring shit. If it made any more money I'm sure we'ld see some out there. -fibber |
WOW...i think that's up with drudge and limbaugh

before this becomes a "bash on MCR" thread like it did in FARK, lets read MCR's mission statement:
"The mission of the Media Research Center is to bring balance and responsibility to the news media. Leaders of America's conservative movement have long believed that within the national news media a strident liberal bias existed that influenced the public's understanding of critical issues. <b>On October 1, 1987, a group of young determined conservatives set out to not only prove - through sound scientific research - that liberal bias in the media does exist and undermines traditional American values, but also to neutralize its impact on the American political scene. What they launched that fall is the now acclaimed --- Media Research Center (MRC).</b>" So they admit they are looking for Liberal only bias. Good for them, I'm sure the liberal also have their site (www.mediamatters.org) that looks for conservative bias. If you don’t think there’s any bais in media, one way or another, than you don’t know human nature. Here’s another conservative bias news site with stories not reported by the media: Reading tea leaves http://www.americanthinker.com/artic...rticle_id=3997 1. John Kerry was quite possibly less than honorably discharged by the Navy. 2. John Kerry is a cancer survivor who refused to release his medical records. 3. John Kerry and Teresa Heinz released less financial information than any candidate in history. make of it what you want, but all news is bais. it depends on your point of view. |
Srry mojo, didn't mean it to come off as a bash, but they snagged me with that snazzy name. It just makes financial sense for the corperate media to lean a bit left since the 2 most important markets in national brodcast television have been traditionally CA and NY which tend to go blue. If one side's gonna lean then hell yeah let there be another side to balance it out.
I just really dug the numbers in the econ section. The rest of it just snuck up on me. -fibber |
But.....Bush already won....didn't he. Can't we just go on to ,....you know the current stuff.
|
Srry Tecoyah, I was looking at the media more than the election. Especially how numbers can mean so little when we don't have the full context handed to us.
