Is anyone going to New York next week ?
I will be at the convention on Tuesday, and wanted to know if any other members might be there.
Looking for activity suggestions, for during the day. Going up early, and want to have some fun before attending the convention. I would be interested in checking out the protests, even though I don't agree with them. It's always good to see people standing up for what they believe. I would be more interest in spending time with supporters though. Thanks

if you didn't see BuDDaH and myself with all the other TFP members that have come through NYC... you're missing out.
you'll find pictures us in Tilted Portraits as we've met up with many members.... I'll just be working here in Times Square. Good luck and safe visit if we don't see you.

Friends of mine are going to protest. I think they're nuts, you couldn't get me near the city. It's going to be crazy I'd bet.
And as far as things to do... Well, there's always the tourist stuff. Museams and such. Be safe though!

good luck finding supporters on tfp, though i'm sure there are no shortage of protesters that will join. if i weren't located in the great state of oklahoma i'd be glad to have a beer with you or any other TFP'er in NYC. Have fun.

thanks averett--it is not clear at this point that we are going.
i am a bit old for militarized confrontation with a paramitliary police force over a demo whose precise function is clearer for people who live in nyc than it is for those of us who dont. i think there will be large numbers out--many many people think it crass to say the least that the republicans are having their shindig in nyc, close to the ex-wtc. but then again, given the bush campigns attempts to exploit the iraqi football squad for their political gain (to mention among the less squalid examples of the world according to karl rove in action), taste is obviously not a motivation.

This I knew, but I like the protests. Free speech and all that good stuff. Plus I was once young and liberal, and attended many protests. As long as they don't get violent I would love to attend one in NY. It's not as much fun debating with people who agree with you, so spending time with the opposition sounds like a good thing. Thanks for the beer comment. I will drink one for you.
