My respect and support has gone up and down throughout the years. As far as George W I thought he was wrapped with corruption and hated even seeing him on TV. This aided me to focus in on his early history and exploit things allot of us (including myself) are guilty of. As I try on live with an open mind (not to mention the fact all of my family is conservative) I gradually began to take a different mindset. One of things that’s was personally holding me back is an area I hate to cover here because it is the subject of intensity here and everywhere, but has relevance to my present position. I thought he was being impartial for reasons I won’t go into to the Palestinian/Israel issue. Until I heard details of his "Road Map". For me personally this showed how deeply wrong I was about what his intentions were. Knowing this has opened my mind to what he has to say, and has earned my vote in 2004. As far as his economic plan I've always felt conservatives play the game of the Federal Reserve better than liberals which encourage entrepreneurship. I better stop there.

Finally, the Dow Jones Industrial Average when it was handed to the current administration was over 11,700 points. Today it closed at nearly 8500 after a big rally yesterday and a fall of 185.58 points late today. Hardly comparable.

You misquoted me there, I was pointing to the fact that under Clinton's Admin, the DJIA did not rise until the very end, when we put all of our stock in the one hit wonder dot coms. 9/11 pushed it over the edge, the economy is no fault of any administration this time around, it was a result of some very poor consumer choices, that's what I was merely saying, sorry if I didn't make that clear.

L.D. I could not agree more...Clinton was a fake, nothing he did was really himself...Bush is at the very least himself.

I would like to also point out; I have heard people criticize him for everything from not writing his speaches (something no president does) to the was he does speeches (with the teleprompters) even the fact that he made a speech on a carrier...they said it was just a publicity stunt.

What I want to say is this; So the fuck what? If you want to criticize him, research his platform and his oponions, and knock off the uneduacated insults!

Sorry I misunderstood that, my mistake.

I've been over the thread twice and have seen no mention of him not writing his own speeches or criticizing the methods of delivery.....maybe I'm just not seeing it....

As for the carrier speech...I think what most of us was trying to get across wasn't the act of giving the speech on the carrier, but rather the airshow we got to watch beforehand, where our Commander-in-Chief top gunned it out to the U.S.S. Lincoln in a super cool jet.

By no means is an S-3 Viking a "super cool jet" but I agree it is a PR move, a stupid one? That shall be determined in the future.

Where does this idea that Bush isn't a "fake" come from?
Is it that he seems so dumb and innocent that you couldn't credit him or his advisors with anything so fiendish as fakery?

The man is a mess of contradictions and question marks:
- Why the uncertainty over his military record?
- Why the uncertainty as to whether he took drugs?
- Why the uncertainty as to whether he should have won the election?
- Why the uncertainty over the position of his friends in Enron, Haliburton and the rest?
- Why all the confussion in interviews when he lists his favourite books and is then unable to actually say what they are about?

Bush is no more a "what you see is what you get" guy than Clinton. Was it really a surprise when we found out about Monica? Will it really be a surprise when we find out that Bush has his fingers in a few corporate pies, hits the bottle again or is proven to in fact never have read a book that wasn;t about baseball in his life?

Hey now, let's be fair. Bush reads many, many books of Christian theme, such as collected sermons and so forth. In fact, that's mostly what he reads, according to several articles I've seen.

well, that makes me feel really great about the direction our president probably wants to take the seperation of church and state.
