Thomas Hamill, kidnapped during an insurgent attack on his supply convoy April 9, escaped from a house south of Tikrit and ran to a nearby U.S. patrol, the U.S. military said.

Hamill, 43, from Macon, was “in good health,” said Brig. Gen. Mark Kimmitt. A gunshot wound to his left arm, possibly suffered when he was captured, appeared to be infected and he was flown to Baghdad, Maj. Neal O’Brien said.

She said he told her he had been locked in a building and “he said he heard a military convoy come by and pried the door open. He said he ran half a mile down the road and got with the convoy. Isn’t that something?”

Just imagine how much joy his family exploded with when the found out he was safe. Better than the explosion of a thousand orgasms I reckon ;)

I remember seeing footage of him being taken hostage by a group of Iraqi militants. The militants allowed an Australian camera team to ask him a few questiones, before they drove off with him, saying they were going to crush his skull.

I'm glad to hear that he got away. Can't imagine what a relief it must have been for his friends and family when they heard he was safe.

Seems very unlikely to me that he just slipped away and escaped. I'm glad to see he is alive and on his way home, but somethings just doesn't seem to be on the level here.

They said on the news tonight that he was released. Someone isn't getting their information straight, and I don't know who it is.
