So who's it gonna be. Just a quick poll. Who are your going to vote for? If you would like to add "why" please do so.

I'll say 57% for Kerry and 43% for Bush.

Anyone else want to offer a forecast? (And saying it will be shut down after 14 posts is not the kind of guess I'm talking about! ;))

The shame of it is that these are the only viable choices. My vote is more anti-Bush than pro-Kerry.

I agree that it is a shame that they are our only two choices. I've been thinking about that a lot lately. I'm going to start a new thread and open up the field to any candidate.

Not much of a surprise to anyone who reads my posts, but I am voting for and campaigning for Senator Kerry. I am voting for him because I genuinely think he will be a good President, who will surprise many at the centrist path he will take in the White House, and because I think Bush is average at best as far as Presidents go, and I disagree with a great many of his policies.

edit/ I also wanted to say that onetime2 is probably right on the money about how this vote will turn out. But I think we should do a new poll each month to see how things change or don't change.

Those not in the USA should abstain from voting I guess?

Anyone who bothered to research the candidates back in 2000 knows Bush's history of completely fucking up anything given to him through family connections, yet personally gaining financially in spite of his mismanagement - from oil companies to the State of Texas to the United States of America - the man has not surprised me a bit - he has a consistent history of failures. That's why I'll vote for his opponent <i>again.</i>, although living in Texas, it won't mean much. Why all these "Proud Texans" will vote for a Connecticut Yankee is beyond me, but they will.

Neither. I am going to vote for Ralph Nader. Here's why. I may be a registered Republican, but I, for one, am sick of GW. If a different Republican were to run, I might vote for him, but its a bit late for that isn't it. So, do I vote for Kerry? Heck no. I am not in any way convinced that Kerry will do any better a job than GW. If you look at some of the recent polls you will see that I am not alone. The majority of people are dissatisfied with Bush's handling of the war. HOWEVER, the polls are practically 50/50 between Bush and Kerry. This means, although they don't like Bush, people don't see a reason to shift their vote to Kerry. So why Nader? Well, for one thing, he doesn't to belong to any party these days. That means, in my mind, that he is more apt to vote as he feels as opposed to how somebody else tells him to feel. Also, having browsed his website (http://www.votenader.com), I like some of his stances. I am particularly hopeful about his mass media reform policies. However, I am not so blind as to see that the US is not quite ready for an independant candidate to win, but if nobody votes for them now, there will never be a victorious independant candidate.

When did we stop voting for the best candidate and start voting for the candidate who will do the least damage?

I think that we've been heading down that path for years now.

Frankly, Kerry bores me. He shows me nothing, in the way of true leadership. But, on the other hand, Bush scares the hell out of me. No...let me correct that. Bush's administration scares the hell out of me. Until we, in the Libertarian Party, gain more ground, and become more of a viable option, I cannot, in good conscience, risk allowing my vote to perpetuate the current administration, for another four years. So, for now, Kerry it is.

By the way, I've added a couple of choices to the poll, to better serve our members. ;)

I also think that in light of the current trend of voting "anti-Bush"...this poll may go hand in hand with it

Two Important Items of Note:

1. Anyone who is proud that they do not vote, please don't bitch about politics next year, as you are NOT doing your civil duty as a free American. Only fools are proud of non-particiation.

2. We all know why the Bush Family hangs out in Texas - No State Taxes and Dub actually thinks he sounds "edumacated" as far less Texans 'per capita' catch or rather, are clued-in to all his dreadfully embarrassing "bushisms". (yeah, lower case on purpose...) We are an International one-line joke these days.

Well, it's only been a few days, but you're off a bit so far. I guess TFP IS liberal....or at least tired of Bush.

I suspect there just aren't as many people coming to politics anymore (and perhaps the "conservative exodus" is still in effect). We'll see how it shakes out when people stop voting.

voting appears to have either slowed to a near-stop or has averaged itself out...

you can count on Bush taking 45-52% percent of the electorate (allowing for a small presence of a 3rd party candidate) and kerry taking the balance whether that be more or less.

but here on tfp, Bush is getting less than half of what he would get in the general election. if you're looking at this statistically, that is a HUGE deviance fromt the rest of the population.

this doesn't take into account how many people foreign to the US that voted, i'm sure that would skew the poll quite a bit.

but, it's not like this surprises many people.

No doubt our little community is far from representative of the country as a whole. My estimate was based on the skew I see here at TFP Politics on a daily basis.

Kerry, I vote for a return to honesty and truth in the white house. I just don't trust Bush's intelligence or his staff.

I will not vote for Bush, and I don't wanna vote for Nader or whoever is Independent.

the only faith I have in bush is that he'll continue his aggressive actions against the will of our allies and the rest of the world, ignore our economic situation and hope it corrects itself, and ignore the environmentalist concerns that are only going to get more serious in the next decade.

I can count on him to do his best to chip away at a woman's right to choose.

I can also count on him to force a lot of qualified people to lose their jobs (I'm talking about teaching assistants and aides) because they don't have a college education thanks to no child left behind.

I can count on kerry to sit on the fence for as long as possible to try and offend as few people as possible. I don't particularly like him, or his politics. He's just another talker, hoping people will think "well, he's NOT bush..."

Ralph Nader will NEVER win an election. And I doubt any third-party candidate will become president in my lifetime.

I'm having serious doubts about the whole electoral process and the validity of anything that comes out of a politician's mouth (on camera)... I'm not sure if i want to be a part of this next election.

I personally am not sure who I will vote for. All I know if Bush will damn near kill us economically. Kerry has not impressed me in the least, can't make up his mind, and seems far too liberal for me.

Guess that leaves some third-party candidate that won't win.

last election i did not vote for bush....but this one he gets my vote by default

even stern who supports kerry hard core.....because of the whole fcc thing hasnt said anything good about kerry other than he isnt bush

I believe in voting early and often. The more times you vote for your man, the better chance he has to win.

I'll vote against Bush. Right now, that means Kerry. I'd prefer a better option.
