Jesse "The Body" for Prez in 2008!
Mr. "The Body" appears to have alluded to the fact that he intends to run for president in the 2008 election at Wrestlemania last night. A state elected him governor, anyone think he would have a shot at the biggest title of them all? He seems to have the support of one Mr. Trump, and goodness knows the American people have a habit of putting totally unqualifed in office based on their name alone.
|
Yeah...no. If they allow naturalized American citizens to run for the highest office, then watch out for AS, but Jesse "The Mind" (he changed his nickname when he entered office, as I recall) Ventura doesn't really have any kind of shot. That he's independant is enough of a strike against him. Two party system, hooray! You're killing America.
Which is not to say I want Ventura as the president. |
I think it is unlikely. This would be worse even than Bush.

"Religion is a crutch for the weakminded" Jessy Ventura

^ Yes he did say that, and even though i disagree with him, i think it is freaking awesome that he said what he wanted to say, and how he really felt, instead of putting another line of bullshit out.
He gets massive credit from me on that. |

Honestly, I believe anyone that can bring attention to the need to break the hold of the two-party system is a good thing. |
he "alluded to the fact that he intends to run for president in the 2008 election at Wrestlemania last night"
... Wow, now i even wonder if that's worth a comment |
Nevermind the fact that, while governer of minnesota, ventura acted like a snotty twelve year old whenever he thought anyone might be coming close to criticising him.
He had like three good ideas, the rest was WWF style chest puffage. |
I suspect that our society is headed down a dangerous path with celebrity elected officals -- we have such intense celebrity worship that given the opportunity I am all but convienced that ANY celebrity could win an election reguardless of their political views.
|
Ventura was basically elected because the people of Minnesota hated the republican and democratic candidates that were running. They also disliked the massive smear campaign both major parties ran (it was REALLY nasty.)
Ventura on the other hand didn't speak a bad word about his opponents, he just kept on promoting himself, culminating in a 72 hour motorhome rush around the state before election day. Would that happen on a national scale? Probably not. |

Man the next pres better watch out, cuz if someone taps that wrestling / nascar crowd.....WOW there is going to be a new sheriff in town and he will be wearing a boa.
Sweet... Mr b |
Wow...Wrester running for pres. The chances of him getting elected is as high as a dope head elected too...
|
I doubt that JV could win nationally even if I thought he did ok with Minnisotta. (sp?)
On the other hand, maybe Strongbad could be his running mate. That would be the awesomenest! |
personally...i respected ventura for speaking his mind.
gun control: puttig a round in a target 400 ft away. or somthing to that effect religion is a crutch legalize pot ummmmmmmm...i really wish i could find a page with all his quotes, they were really golden at times. plus, his autobiographies were pretty good and pretty unexpected. |
Speaking your mind is one thing saying something stupid is another.
Imagine if Ventura was president and he said stuff like this: "If the muslims were all dead we wouldn't have any problems" "Screw the rest of the world, they are just jelous that we have and they don't" "Why should I care about your pathetic problems" "If black people would stop commiting violence every time they get a chance we wouldn't have cops beating them" These are all along the lines of his religion line. They do not serve a purpose other than to anger people. Jessies comment on religion was spitefull and served no purpose at all. |
Seriously, JV has the maturity of a fifteen year old. He did such a great job as governer that minnesotans turned around and elected one the most conservative republicans in the state after him.
|
He got elected governor of Minnesota because the news media went easy on him and didn't ask him any hard question. He then proceeded to be a royal shit to the media throughout his term. The media isn't gonna be nice to him if he runs again. They'll ask the tough questions and they'll crucify him if he can't answer them.
