In this thread you say that you think terrorism cannot be defeated, yet in the Vietnam thread, you say we should all work to prevent the election of Kerry - which by definition means Bush stays in office and continues to (pretend to) fight what you call a battle we can't win.

The war can be won, but who here wishes to dole out whats necessary?

Good question. Unfortunately, I fear most of the people who comprise the US government are not willing to revamp American foreign policy in order to stop creating the fertile grounds from which "terrorism" grows.

Its not terrorism when a country defends against an invading army.

Explain to me how blowing up innocent civilians, and inciting civil/tribal/ethnic/religious war is defending against an invading army.

Its purpose is to get america - an invading country - out of iraq. Most of the country has surrendured, but obviously some have not. War isn't pretty and never has been. If this is terrorism, nearly every country on earth has been guilty of it. I think its better to restrict the definition a little.

Its simple (albeit often times flawed) logic for the people - Americans entire Iraq, bombings and chaos ensue, blame Americans.

When an entire country wants you out (the goal of these 'terrorists') then not much is gonna change if you stay.
