Kerry getting hit with the Infidelity stick.

Headline off Drudge:
CAMPAIGN DRAMA ROCKS DEMOCRATS: KERRY FIGHTS OFF MEDIA PROBE OF RECENT ALLEGED INFIDELITY, RIVALS PREDICT RUIN.

Not really substantial. Not yet at least. But I think if this can be proven to be true or at least go far enough, Kerry could fall off the map or be basically forced to resign. And that opens the candidacy up to what would now be a two man race between Edwards and Dean. Dean, a man who up until this point had absolutely NO CHANCE of gettin the nomination, now could have a very real chance.

Edwards would most likely assume the frontrunner status though.

If for some reason this is true, Kerry has to get the fuck out. He should have known better anyway and we don't need to be (unfairly) labeled as the party of infidelity.

I think, after (IF!) Kerry gets blown out, that would be a good time for Dean and Clark to grab some headlines and go towards a common goal as a presidential team to hopefully rocket past Edwards.

reconmike 02-12-2004 09:49 AM

I don't see what the problem is, I have always concidered the Democratic party as the party of free love, hippies and hand-outs anyway.

Redlemon 02-12-2004 09:51 AM

Fucking Drudge.

Superbelt 02-12-2004 09:53 AM

Yes he can be a major fuck sometimes.
Still no AP story on this, or anywhere else. It could just be a smear attempt by Drudge, RNC, Bush'04 or any combination thereof.

I'd hardly call it a smear campaign by the right when Clark told reporters off the record a week ago about it.

Superbelt 02-12-2004 10:06 AM

I read about that too. But why would Clark drop out if he knew that this would break? Unless he knows that nothing will really come from it.

Clark has a lot to gain from Kerry dropping out. Lots of veterans could have come his way.

bish 02-12-2004 10:13 AM

It is puzzling why Clark didn't let this out earlier. I wouldn't blame him though, he just does what he's told to do by Clinton.

santafe5000 02-12-2004 10:15 AM

Looked a drudge and i have to say, very vague. Not much substance to it. Will reserve judgement on this after more is made available.

CAMPAIGN DRAMA ROCKS DEMOCRATS: KERRY FIGHTS OFF MEDIA PROBE OF RECENT ALLEGED INFIDELITY, RIVALS PREDICT RUIN

**World Exclusive**
**Must Credit the DRUDGE REPORT**

A frantic behind-the-scenes drama is unfolding around Sen. John Kerry and his quest to lockup the Democratic nomination for president, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.

Intrigue surrounds a woman who recently fled the country, reportedly at the prodding of Kerry, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

A serious investigation of the woman and the nature of her relationship with Sen. John Kerry has been underway at TIME magazine, ABC NEWS, the WASHINGTON POST, THE HILL and the ASSOCIATED PRESS, where the woman in question once worked.

MORE

A close friend of the woman first approached a reporter late last year claiming fantastic stories -- stories that now threaten to turn the race for the presidency on its head!

In an off-the-record conversation with a dozen reporters earlier this week, General Wesley Clark plainly stated: "Kerry will implode over an intern issue." [Three reporters in attendance confirm Clark made the startling comments.]

The Kerry commotion is why Howard Dean has turned increasingly aggressive against Kerry in recent days, and is the key reason why Dean reversed his decision to drop out of the race after Wisconsin, top campaign sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

Superbelt 02-12-2004 11:20 AM

One of Clarks main campaign managers is Chris Lehane. A smear-meister of the first order from Gores Presidential Campaign.
He also was fired from Kerry's campaign several weeks before Clark jumped in.
This guy is a rat-bastard piece of shit who would make any claim to help bring a competitor down.
I'll put him at the top of my list.
*He was working for Kerry up until Clark came in, so he had internal info,
*His candidate is the one who really started this cycle.

Overall it's just a crap smear job. Kerry was boinking Interns when he was a single Senator, and that is where this is coming from, nothing wrong with that. They are just trying to use something relatively harmless and try and get inattentive people to pull it into his married life and to let the Clinton/Intern apply itself to him.

Being a conservative this is the LAST thing I want to come out now.

The only democrat more beatable then Kerry is Dean (we won’t even mention Kusinich or Sharpton). If this were a republican plot, we would wait until Kerry had the nomination and THEN let the dogs out. There is no point in smearing him now.

Edwards is more dangerous then Kerry because he has no history of votes to show (hell he hardly voted his only term), is pretty and well spoken. He might be the biggest scumbag running, but he can at least fool a lot of people.

pan6467 02-12-2004 11:33 AM

The more I see what has become of my beloved Democratic party the more I tend to believe Limbaugh.

The Clintons are out to implode the party to keep anyone from being elected. I liked Clinton, it was the GOP that refused to let the man do what a majority of the people elected him to do.

All's fair in love, war and politics and anyone with aspirations to run for ANY contentious office needs to be very discreet in thier ....um day to day affairs.

Now, as to why I believe Limbaugh's conspiracy theory. I can't believe Kerry would be so stupid. Sounds like he was set up. Clark saying "Off the Record" to 12 reporters, "that an intern will take Kerry down."

My man has been and still is Edwards and he is looking better. But the question is what will come out about him when he takes the lead?

The Clinton's are not only destroying the party's hope for a president (Bush is very defeatable with the right person) but destroying 2 senators also. That's just what the party needs the loss of 2 damn good senators.

Of course if you are someone into conspiracies you could believe that the GOP is doing this to make it look like the Clinton's work. OR you could say the Dems. are doing this now so that the short memory of the people won't make this Kerry-intern issue a big deal in Oct. and Nov. when the masses truly decide who to elect.

I STILL SAY DRAFT TRUMP....... TRUMP IN '04 LONG LIVE THE DON..

JohnnyRoyale 02-12-2004 11:41 AM

I'm reminded of something I read once in a (i believe) Hunter Thompson book, about slander and campaigns:

LBJ was behind in the polls for some state or federal position. He instructed one of his assistants to start a rumor that his opponent was being sexually intimate with the pigs on his farm.
"But sir," said the aide, "we can't prove that he's a pig f***er!"
"We don't have to prove sh**" said LBJ, "just make the bastard deny it long enough, and people'll believe it's true"

Superbelt 02-12-2004 11:41 AM

I don't think it's the Clintons. Lehane is a free spirit, so to speak. He does what ever he can to destroy people in the way of his candidate.

He did it to the much better candidate Bill Bradley in 2000. He's doing it again.

sipsake 02-12-2004 12:04 PM

Holy crap...another Democrat may or may not have used his penis in a way that may or may not offend the sensibilities of either americans at large or maybe just the religious right. Maybe.

His political career is over!

Unless there's a Republican Primary challenger I didn't know about, Edwards will never be more than the second biggest scumbag running. :)

XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX THU FEB 12, 2004 20:01:49 ET XXXXX

OUT OF AFRICA: KERRY PREPARES RESPONSE TO MEDIA PROBE OF RELATIONSHIP

**Exclusive**

Democratic presidential frontrunner John Kerry is planning a response to a DRUDGE REPORT exclusive which first revealed the frantic behind-the-scenes drama surrounding a woman who recently fled the country, reportedly at the prodding of Kerry!

The nature and details of a claimed two-year relationship, beginning in the Spring of 2001, between a young woman and Kerry is at the center of serious investigations at several media outlets.

After being approached by a top news producer, the woman fled to Africa, where she remains, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.

Unlike the Monica Lewinsky drama, which first played out publicly in this space, with audio tapes, cigar and a dress, the Kerry situation has posed a challange to reporters investigating the claims.

"There is no lawsuit testimony this time [like Clinton with Paula Jones]," a top source said Thursday night. "It is hard to prove."

A close friend of the woman first approached a reporter late last year claiming fantastic stories -- stories that now threaten to turn the race for the presidency on its head.

Kerry is scheduled to appear on IMUS IN THE MORNING on Friday. Later he is scheduled to join General Wesley Clark, who, in an off-the-record conversation with a dozen reporters earlier this week, plainly stated: "Kerry will implode over an intern issue."

Reporters who witnessed Clark making the stunning comments marvel at the General's reluctance to later confirm they were spoken -- only to later endorse Kerry for the nomination!

Developing...

It always amazes me that you Americans give a Sh!t about this sort of stuff.

You think Dean, Edwards, Bush or anyone else hasn't got a skeleton or two in their closet.

Does anyone else think that this is going to be one of the dirtiest elections ever.

Never can i remember such focussed hatred on both sides.

HarmlessRabbit 02-12-2004 08:57 PM

well, kerry has waged a pretty dirty campaign against his fellow dems, so yeah, I'd say dirtiest campaign ever on both sides is a pretty good guess.

Hey, Kerry is a Kennedy, they know how to take care of their little infidelities. :)

I haven't seen the "dirty" campaigning... If anything, my impression of this campaign is of a college debate club. The only exception, in my opinion, is Dean and his personal attacks.

Could you provide an example. My impression has also been that so far the democratic campaigning has been pretty benign.

Ustwo 02-13-2004 07:45 AM

Dean has been complaining about Kerry's dirty tricks for quite a while. Now that Dean isn't the front runner you can just call him a liar of course so no worries.

I'm picturing Claude Rains walking into the political equivalent of Rick's Cafe Americain -

"I am shocked! Shocked to discover politicians acting like politicians!"
