you tell me how we can get affirmative action and "african american" awards to differentiate between blacks of african descent and blacks of non-african descent OR can differentiate between blacks who's ancestors were slaves and blacks who's ancestors were slave owners, and I'll be pretty impressed.

well that's my point. It shouldn't. But throughout this thread, certain people have insisted on referring to black people as "african american" as though that term is synonymous with black. It isn't, and any attempt to justify its use is a bullshit justification for trying to place an even larger wedge between the races. In short, it's an attempt to continue the racial problem we have today, and IMHO that's not only a bad idea, it's immoral.
