Luna, and beyond...
I'm the farthest thing from a Bush supporter, but I have to admit I am genuinely excited about the CiC's upcoming announcement (the first time I have ever been excited about a government policy). Just wondering what other people think about venturing beyond our own little rock...

I love it, I can't wait to see the day.
WARNING! GEEK MOMENT AHEAD!!! Ever since I watched James T. Kirk captain the Enterprise through space, I have always been fascinated by what's out there. I think that the best things will come from expanding beyond what we know. Some day, I hope to even go to the Moon, or maybe even Mars, that's the geek in me talking, but what the hell, it would be fun! |
It excites me on a fundamental level.
That being said, how is he going to pay for it? This guy makes LBJ and FDR look like tightwads when it comes to government spending. I'd like him, FOR ONCE, to excercise half the leadership his father showed when his father realized he was going to have to raise taxes to pay down the deficit, among other things. |
There's a big thread in Gen. Discussion here: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthr...threadid=40906
I agree with Sparhawk -- its really exciting to see humanity expand into space with all kinds of cool new technology, but I think that if the government doesn't get itself some kind of fiscal responsibility first, not only would a space program be a big burden, but it would be less likely to continue in decades to come. |
Fuck space. We have enough problems in this country that could be solved with $100 billion to spend it sending 5 dudes to Mars with minimal possible benefit.

What is different about what the current administration is proposing from what Bush I proposed?
