I'm going to say that I agree with lurkette's post almost completely. I'd also like to comment on a few other statements made in this thread.

I have a lot of complaints about the way my country is being run, but I'm disappointed that any of us would want to see it "clobbered."

You can count on me to cover your back if they start landing. If they're trying to fuck with our country, I can set aside differences of opinion and be one of the few liberals with the balls to do something about it.

Only a liberal is stupid enough to want to lose a war to teach themselves a lesson.

This is why you people must never EVER be trusted with national security. Its not about being fair Rude comment edited by Lebell, its about winning, this isn't a game of counter strike.

This is quite a leap - taking the un-thoughtful whinings of a few folks and applying them to an entire political spectrum. There are many liberals whom I would trust implicitly to govern and protect my long-term interests, many conservatives I would NOT trust, and vice versa. I think it's much more useful to evaluate these folks on an individual basis rather than pre-judging their ability to protect national security based on their political affiliation.

Sometimes people just need to be stabbed...

When everyone has high stakes no will comply unless someone gets exploded or unless your wrath is equatable to the wrath of god in terms of it's effectiveness in the eradication of what it is the one being strong armed into complying holds.

While perhaps not right on the money it does make what is apparent to most people jump right out in your face. It might remind one of the old saying don't cut your nose off to spite your face.

Peace-niks are a joke. War is a reality, if your not willing to fight when it comes down to crunch time then you'll die.

For Mojo_PeiPei and flitherton:

Quote:
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

-Ecclesiastes, 3. 1

Pacifism used in civil disobedience is extremely different then a bunch of hippies protesting war, get serious.

*Thanks for the quote Lebell. But all I'm saying is if someone comes out swinging your fucking stupid if you don't swing back, I mean unless you are about getting your ass kicked.

You hit the nail right on the head there boy.

China.

There's over a billion of them. They are manufacturing everything these days. Ever gizmo i buy or need to buy seems to be made in China these days. Used to be you saw the odd weird looking pot that was made in China.

Now it's my computer.

I was in home depot today. Needed sprinklers. Made in China. Went to the tool coral, Made in China.

Look out below.

Seriously, some people think the dirty hippy MLK's protests against the vietnam war were what got him assassinated.

I guess i can't really see a huge difference between pascifist civil disobediance and "hippies" using pacifist civil disobediance to protest war.

BTW you should be aware that protesting war doesn't automatically make someone a hippy anymore than being prowar makes someone a nazi.

Are these ecclesiastes a bunch of hippies or what? Pshhhh, a time for peace, yeah, only when we're getting ready to go to war!
