Of course. I think you have to go back over 50 years (Truman) to find the last sitting president who could have run but didn't.
Even if Bush didn't want to run, it would make sense to do it for the Republican Party. He's almost a lock to win, especially right now. The Democrats have no good options, but without Bush the Republicans don't really either. |

No doubt he will run. The Democratic party is in disarray. No loyal Republican is going to challenge him.

Unfortunately, I think he is. I would prefer to see the Democrats and the Republicans put up candidates that have no possible chance of winning, so that people actually have to educate themselves about who and what they are voting for. I know it's a fantasy...but it's a damn good fantasy.

Hope so, Bush is the man.

btw, I am certain Bush will run again. I haven't been able to find any current polls, however, so I don't know the split between support for the war/Bush's handling of the affair and dissatisfaction (if any is widespread) with the economy. As far as qualified Democratic candidates I think Ms. Mosley-Braun is an extremely articulate and intelligent candidate. I saw her rapidly construct a counter-argument to a *seemingly* rude/inappropriate question from a reporter that immediately gained my respect. Last edited by smooth; 04-27-2003 at 10:45 PM.. |

Hopefully so.
And hopefully he will lose. (just really lose this time, not just get less votes but somehow squeak in.) Remember, it's the economy stupid. And the economy is getting worse, with more people out of work, more people underemployed, and record deficits. Ah, but he did beat up pathetic iraq. (Then again, didn't his father campaign on "we kicked some iraqi butt") |

I have no doubt he will run, and unfortunately he will probably win. I too don't see a viable democratic opponant.
