Suck it, NAACP!
We brought this up at the last national white people convention every white person on the planet attends, it's all a wide scale conspiracy to keep them from reaching financial freedom.

Yeah, why don't black leaders protest 50 Cent? He's a thug who got shot, and now he's going to tell all the kiddies how you gotta pack heat if you gonna make it on da street. Why not protest DMX, Ja Rule, MURDER INC., Ludacris, and just about any black comedian on BET? This game is funny, and isn't doing or saying anything that's not said 1000 times every day by a lot of black people.

If your kid was going to be playing this crap, I guarantee you'd be a little concerned. As a board game, its being targeted at kids and sends all the wrong messages.
While it is the same as the message in rap songs, that doesn't make it right. Also, its just not correct to say black leaders haven't protested against violence and hate in rap because they have. But I guess you guys don't support that either, right? That's just too PC. |

While I agree with maximus that this isn't quite a game that I'd want my kids to play (if I had kids), this is definitely the kind of game that I would play. So what if it pokes fun at life in the ghetto, I didn't see the Trailerparks of America getting upset over Redneckopoly. Hypersensitity will not defeat racism, but humor just might.

I hardly think the game is racist. Its not blackopoly. I'm beginning to think the biggest problem with racism is that we can't discuss it at all. People need to lighten up about it to have an open discussion. Racism is fueled by hatred and you can't feed hatred against it, which seems to be the accepted method of attack. Ignorance on the other hand is the silent killer when it comes to racism people mistake this for hate too often. Ignorance can be overcome and I think this gets better with each generation.
People have to stop being terrified of laughter even at the darkest of subjects, sometimes its the best counter to hatred. People need to feel safe having an open dialog about race, especially white people. The biggest mistake they made with Rush was to not let any of the commentators show him how ignorant he was being with his comments. Racism still remains a taboo topic to whites. As long as this keeps happening, ignorance will persist.

I have a question:
What were the people protesting against this game upset about, the fact that it is a reflection of some people's lives, or that soemone is making money off of it? Either answer is a joke. Everything we do is based upon our lives, whatever situation we are in. The fact that soemone is making money off it is simply capitalism at work. For a nation that will plop down on a couch and watch 3 hours of mindless sit-coms a night we have no sense of humor. People look for a hidden agenda in everything someone says or does. Our nation was founded by a group of rebels. Somewhere over the last several decades we forgot that and have become the Clean America.

Truth be told -it's very racist in the same vein as the Golliwog
Which are also making a comback: http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_270310.html?menu= Sales of Golliwogs are booming again after years of being ostracised from the toy box. Golliwogs bore the brunt of political correctness in the 1980s and 90s. Toy shops thought it non-PC to even sell one in the 1980s. But now the toy is making a surprise comeback with a rebranding for the 21st century. Toy manufacturers are working flat-out to meet demand for the doll as his popularity soars. He fell foul of the censors in the 1980s for bullying Noddy. He was named and shamed as a "legacy of slavery" and his character dropped by publishers. The Working Group Against Racism in Children's Resources added: "He embodies the mythical qualities often attributed to black people - superstition, large appetites, primitive simplicity and savagery." Oliver Holmes, managing director of manufacturer Merry Thought, said: "We make 10,000 gollies a year and are currently working to full capacity. British orders now have to be placed months in advance and gollies are also a tremendous export winner in the States. " The golliwog first appeared as a soft toy in 1895 and is even older than the teddy bear, which first appeared five years later, reports the Daily Record. Even the Commission for Racial Equality have stopped short of condemning golly's comeback. A spokeswoman said: "Books, dolls, games and other toys should be a mirror to the multi-ethnic society we live in. It is the responsibility of teachers and carers to ensure children do not learn to label or stereotype any particular group through play or learning materials." LOL this is great. I guess these "black leaders" dont realize they're boosting the sales of this game beyond the developer's wildest expectations. I had no idea this game existed until the complaints started and the news picked it up.
I would play this game and i would let my children play this game if i had them. Why? Becuase i would be damn sure to actually.. you know.. TEACH MY CHILDREN so they UNDERSTAND REALITY. There will always be stupid people and those that are not "as enlightened". Usually these people learn the error of their ways and change. If they dont change they'll suffer for it. Natural selection will take care of them, I'm not worried.

If they can exploit stereotypes on tv and movies, why can't they do it with board games? On a side note I think it's great that it was designed by an asian guy from my home state of PA.

Well, all I really know is that "honky" comes from when young white guys in the south would cruise and "honk" and hoot at the young black girls.
I kinda thought that was a white trash thing, but I could very well be wrong...

Maybe I'm misinterpreting, but I think some of you might have missed it when I mentioned that the same company is making another game called Redneckopoly. Its listed on their website, http://www.ghettopoly.com/ . So this company isn't after only people in the ghetto or only black people. They spread the love to all stereotypes!

Oh for crying out loud! Who cares? It actually looks kinda fun, to me. If it pokes fun at a certain subculture, or racial sterotype, that this same culture goes out of its way to cultivate, then all the better. This is so funny...I need to get me one of those.
