I'm sure the person who created this didn't do it for humor, but I'm posting it here to be humorous. Don't kill the messanger.
In all honestly though, the Patriot Act II is pretty scary ![]() ![]()

Oh yeah, I agree, the Patriot act is a pretty scary thing, with everything they are able to monitor. I don't agree with it by any means, just because I have never been the most law abiding citizen, but I think it is a bit irrational to join the militant fringe and put stickers such as this on a phone.
Actually, that is a lie. I think it is damn funny, but exactly like you said, that is not what they are going for. Just imagine if you taped a condom to a payphone and a sticker that said "Practice Safe Speech, you never know where this handset has been" or something like that. Phone booths are a comedy waiting to happen. But on the stickers, I think it would be more effective to write to your local government, and slowly follow the ranks. Something like this is going to be completely useless inb the large scheme. I think the majority of these anti-government "Black Bloc" ideas are a waste. It is definitely vandalism, although I wouldn't necessarily fight for having it prosecuted.

I almost forgot, read the very bottom of the sheet, talkinga bout site-specific stickers and soforth. Writing "Lies" on the front of paper boxes? Real creative. You don't like it? Don't fucking read it. "Out of Order" stickers for corporate soda machines? What kind of soda machine isn't corporate? They will ahve corporate sodas in them, right? Not like I can expect to get a nice can or even a sealed bottle of Grandma's iced tea out of a machine, so that I am supporting the local economy. What do these people drink? If they get bottled water, they are naturally supporting SOME corporation, whether it be Deer Park, Polish Springs, or anyone else. If they get water from their tap at home, they are supporting that corporation known as City Public Works. The only way they can consume any liquid is to get it straight from the ground or a pond or from rain, but then they are either getting poisoned or are depriving nature of that water. Where do you stop?
It just kills me how these people are against consuming anything and everything, yet I rarely see someone sitting in the grass creating their own thread and needles and sewing their own clothes. Everything that is bought or sold goes to some corporation, EVERYTHING. You buy organic veggies straight from the farmer? Okay, you are giving that farmer money. Inevitably, that money will end up going to some corporation, whether it be for fertilizer, feed, gas, power, or water. Sorry, I guess this shit just irritates me because I watched protestors in my town march down the street complaining of Imperialism and demanding "No War But The Class War," but they were all wearing GAP and J. Crew or carrying Eastpack backpacks. And on the topic of gas and SUVs, what about all the gas that was used by A.N.S.W.E.R. to bus people into DC for a rally? And so what if your car gets better gas mileage, it is still using gas! You get 30 mpg? Great, when you took that last road trip to follow Phish you used 163 gallons. When mommy took her kids to soccer practice, she used two gallons each way for the whole season. What makes you better? If I kill fifteen children and you kill twenty, should I be congratulated for killing less than you? Okay, sorry, now I will really shut up.

I didnt really look at the last part of it. It seems people like to speak out and be clever just to speak out and be clever.
But anyway, I thought its interesting, even though I dont agree with everything it says (especially at the bottom)

I'm like sixate: I have nothing to hide, and nothing to fear. I don't neccessarily want everything I do to be monitored, but in all reality, they're not paying any attention to me. I've never committed a serious crime (a couple traffic tickets is all), so the likelyhood of the government specifically targeting me as someone to watch is pretty slim. And if they do want to monitor me, then they're going to be pretty fucking bored doing it.

I'm not trying to be all black helicopter nutty here or anything, but...
We should always keep our eyes on our government; it should never be the other way around. I don't like the fact that something like the Patriot Act or Total Information Awareness are even considered in a nation that prides itself on liberty.

This doesn't just apply to people who have committed crimes. It applies to people who voice displeasure with the government. Maybe this doesn't include you right now, but maybe it could in the future. This isn't an act against terrorism, its an act against dissent.
The government is always looking to squash dissent and it is up to us as American citizens to make sure this doesn't happen. President Bush thinks "There ought to be limits to freedom". President Clinton wanted to limit the personal rights of Americans for the betterment of the government. As Ari Fleischer said, "'There are reminders to all Americans that they need to watch what they say, watch what they do". This is just another reminder courtesy of Ashcroft. |

I was trying to find out who funds the .org site out of curiosity. The fact that I see liberals getting slammed in there too makes me wonder.
Rmember this: anything the government does or doesnt do is because the people allowed it to happen.
