I think a lot of liberals are really over exagerating when they attack the "right wing". I think both sides get a little too passionate and a little too hung up on stereotypes.
I wouldn't mind a fascist regime that had some aspects of a democratic republic. My main beef with the US government is that it takes SO friggin long to get anything done. Everything is dictated by this petty game the Republicans and the Democrats play. It just makes no sense. I also don't think the average person knows what is good for them AND what is good for the country and everyone else in it at the same time. I don't think the average person is educated enough. I would accept and promote the voting system to be changed to something like this: A fourth branch of the government headed by a Controller or meaningful figurehead and a system of councils. This branch would take the other 50% of the vote in presidential elections and things like that. This branch would also have veto power and would oversee the rest of the government and oversee it self. One of its main duties would be to think about and suggest reforms. Oh well, that's just one of my ideas. I've been watching a lot of CNN lately (my remote broke) and I've been day dreaming about government reform. Last edited by constant; 08-20-2003 at 09:15 PM.. |

Well you see in a sense Constant, a democratic gov't in the U.S. fashion isn't a very efficient gov't.
Yes eveyone likes to say how great democracy see is and what not, but in truth, the "ideal" government would be run, in a sense, a dictatorship style but the guy wasn't some nut but rather one guy who could get shit done and please the people. Ideally, when its efficient and works, it would be much better than the partisan politics we have. Sure I love democracy but at sometimes the country *does* need someone who can actually lead and get stuff done. The only problem is that we are all human and no one can claim to be totally righteous and correct. |

yeah i wasn't sure how to word it and I should have pointed out that it didn't last long but it bothers me to to see people point out things in our goverment that exists in all goverment and say we're turning fascist. I wouldn't count on many of the things bush and ashcroft did lasting through our next president and does anyone remember the past with heavy and open descrimination towards minoritys and the violent oppression of free speach from as little as 40 years ago? Id say we've improved plenty since then
