You know, the worst thing you could do with him is let him live a powerless, ineffective, pointless and very long life. The man wants a martyrdom- don't let him have it.

I'm not suggesting that he doesn't deserve death, but a life like that would be far worse for him.

Sounds to me like you're trying to justify the fact that we have yet to find him. He's not "powerless, ineffective, pointless" when we don't know where he is or what he's doing. The only good Osama bin Laden is a dead one.

I'm afraid it isn't working yet... Many Muslims see him as a great example: they like his dedication to Islam, and like what he did at 9/11, not because of the deaths, but because of the, well, coolness factor, basically. He acts contrary to Islam, and is a mass-murderer, but that's not something extremists care about.

What we should do to him: send him to Saudi-Arabia or Iran or something, to be put on trial. Of course, we'd need to make sure he doesn't "escape", but that's doable. He'd be convicted by *Muslim* judges, and executed by *Muslims*.

Of course, it'll never happen...

do you all really think that bin Laden is still viable? I think that his reach has been shortened and therefore his effectiveness. Certainly there are still loyal cells and groups that are tied to him, but I think many of them are going to be laying low for a little while, not to mention the fact that, internationally, anyone tied to terrorism in any way is going to be hunted down. It's already happening.

I don't think it's so much about Bin Ladens potence and potential threat against the United States and friends, it's more of a justice thing. He needs to be punished.

Don't misunderstand me, I think he needs to be punished, but we need to make sure that we don't have tunnel vision when dealing with terrorists. It's easy to target the leader, but we need to make sure that we are also going after the less visible leaders of equally dangerous terrorist factions.
