Why wont the Liberals bring Harper down?

Are they afraid to let Dion lead?

What is going on here?

Pretty much - Dion is not seen as a Prime Minister, and the majority trust Harper about as far as we can throw him, so the status quo it is. I think if either party were to dump their leader, they'd have a chance at a majority.

I think it's a little more complex than leaders myself. I think Canadians just remain creatures of habit and the swing from one side to other is a gradual thing based on percieved performance more than anything else.

Harper may be a crappy Prime Minister, but he talks smooth and answers questions with what sounds like answers, so the perception of a good leader is there. Is Dion , or even Layton (not that it matters) any better/worse/different than Harper? No.

Why are we still in a minority gov't? Because we're all such timid voters. It's been shown by research that many voters will cast ballots for who they think will win, not for who they would like to win. It really is a strange thing, and I can't explain it.

Anyway, the Tories are a real concern to me in terms of deep intergration, and I'm afraid of how far down the conservative path we can go before we lose important pieces of our Canadian identity.

I say we should all just vote Green and see where that goes, just for fun. :)

Just saw a Harper TV ad....no longer hungry....

I do like that he seems to have a spine but we are having elections every year it seems. God for bid that moron Layton gets elected, he'll say anything if he thinks it will get him in office. Not much different that most of them I guess...

Is that the one where he discovered the cure for cancer, solved the energy crisis and brought about world peace?

I'm in one of the bi-election ridings, and truth be told I really don't know where I'm going to put my X. None of the parties really appeal to me because they all just seem completely full of shit. Truth be told I may just vote Green not because I really care about the Green Party, I just dont care for any of the others.

I've heard it said that a minority government keeps them on their toes, since an election can be called at anytime. It's also a message that the country isn't sure you're the best choice. Despite being Bush's lapdog, Harper hasn't been that bad and I think that's partly because of the minority situation.
