I don't mean this to be a personal judgement on anyone, but does anyone on this forum actually buy into what she says? I mean, I call myself a liberal but I think Ted Rall should shutup most of the time.

I think some of what she says has merit.

either way there are people on both sides that are loony, some people are WAY to far left and some are WAY to far Right, she is WAY to far right when she say that all liberals are trators

The problem lies in the fact that the whole concept of political and moral freedom is immediatly discarded by extremist groups, left and right.

This is particularly true of the ethos of right conservatism and soviet communism, both of which share a monopolistic and suppressive instinct. Thankfully, the right conservative form is moderate, where a truer representation of soviet ethos would be fascism.

Either way, the important thing to remember is that Joe McCarthy was prosecuting people for legitimately held political beliefs and that this is a crime against the most fundamental basis of the American Republic.

The most comical representation of which is that in most Labor Unions in the 50's and 60's the swearing in of the new membership usually included the phrase "I am not now nor have I ever been a member of the Communist Party". Some unions continue with this practice still, today. I guess Joe McCarthy wasn't the only one who persecuted communists.

Sure, he wasn't the only one, but the House Committee on Un-American Activities crystallises the rabid paranoia of the US in the 1950's.

In context. his activities were not as bad, except when you consider that they did stoke many other fires.

Personally, I think a lot of her opinions resembles a lot of opinions long-time cokeheads have.

She's obviously frightened to death by what she calls "liberals", and Communists.

Old fashioned rabid paranoia.
I don't care if she's left or right, she's way to incoherent for me to try to decipher.

Most of her columns should come with free tinfoil.
