Okay, but a really interesting notion just got floated.
What if the responsibility for getting straight answers was taken off the shoulders of the press--where it never belonged to begin with. What if the President (or the White House Press Secretary, or whoever) was sworn in under oath at press briefings? The way they currently are designed, they're just spin sessions, and nothing substantive can ever be expected to come out of them. What if administration people could be tried for perjury for their statements at press conferences? |
