Shakran's Law

Just wanted to give the heads up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shakran%27s_Law

This law states that: "As a discussion about the legality or morality of President George W. Bush's actions grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving President Bill Clinton's infidelity and sexual relations approaches 1."

Although there is no formal rule, most dismiss a post, and possibly even thread, once the comparison has been made.

(thanks to willravel for writing this out)

I don't think it's going to last long.

Look out Newton and Boyle!!!

CSflim 03-22-2006 10:05 AM

You vandal!

Charlatan 03-22-2006 10:24 AM

Looks like it is about to be deleted.

Sadly, not enough people are using the term... it is not a notable protologism, only one google hit.

If it wants to make it in the World, people need to start using it.

ROFL

My 15 seconds of net.fame ;)

Anyone offended that they listed the TFP as a non-notable forum?

Willravel 03-22-2006 05:57 PM

Truely excelent. I've not been this happy since my daughter was born.

Charlatan 03-22-2006 07:01 PM

Unless you start spreading the usage of this law, it will be fleeting indeed.

nezmot 03-23-2006 12:21 AM

I think it would make sense for someone to at least write up a wiki article about the TFP before we start worrying how notable the forum is.

CSflim 03-23-2006 04:35 AM

Of course we're notable! We're the 428th biggest forum on the internet! (or something like that - there was a thread started a while back).

Maybe we can create the Shakran-Gowin Law: The longer the thread, the more likely the posting of "Bush might be a Nazi; but Clinton got a blowjob, so it all evens out".

Grasshopper Green 03-23-2006 06:11 AM

Just a heads up, the link to the forum is incorrect...it goes to tfproject.com, which is some Italian page...not to tfproject.org. I have no idea how to fix this, I don't use wikipedia that often.

And by the way...interesting article :)

stevo 03-23-2006 10:48 AM

Yeah, well, clinton got a blowjob and lied about it.

hehe...does that mean this thread can be over now?

joshbaumgartner 03-23-2006 03:21 PM

Point of interest: As a Wikipedian , I followed up on this and the entry is now a candidate for deletion. Per Wiki's guidelines, I think it qualifies for removal. I didn't think TFP would be the source for me to have input on a Wiki housecleaning vote, but hey, you learn new things every day!

shakran 03-23-2006 03:55 PM

Just to clear things up Josh, it's not *self* promotion, since I am not the one who posted the article.

joshbaumgartner 03-23-2006 06:35 PM

lol...sorry shakran...I was thinking from the wiki perspective. It doesn't matter who posted it, we have guidelines for what does or doesn't belong. Please don't take it as a slight on you or even 'Shakran's Law' (which personally I think is cool), its just a matter of wiki's guidelines. Are you a wiki user yourself?

shakran 03-23-2006 06:37 PM

not registered or anything but I edit some stuff from time to time when I see errors. And no offense taken - just wanted to clarify!

joshbaumgartner 03-23-2006 11:14 PM

I'll keep that in mind next time we take a vote on how much to let un-registered people do. I've always been a big fan of letting anyone edit the thing...I mean that was the whole idea in the first place.
