Just a quick test to see how to post photographs

EDIT: Obviously I have cocked this up somewhat. How do I resize this to 1024x768 or cant I?

Have to use a photo editing program to do so, like Adobe Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, etc.

Dont suppose any of those are free or there any free lite programs that just deal with resizing?

If you go to Windows XP powertoys you can download a utility that will add RESIZE to your right-click menu.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx

near the bottom on the right hand side, imageresizer.exe

Funny.. That pic is so big, that when the thread opened, I thought it was a picture of the "seal" along the base of the wall.

Only later did I scroll over and see a seal (animal) looking at the camera.

You can resize pictures in MSpaint also. Just open it in paint, Image pull down menu, select stretch and skew, type in horizontal and vertical percent reductions.

I know I am little late, but here is a wee lesson I wrote for my wife and her friends on how to resize pics with WinXp:

Here is the location to download the "Power Toy."
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx

There are dozens and dozens of different power toys on this page that you can use, today we are just concerend with the one called: Image Resizer (imageresizer.exe). It is in the blue column on the right side of the page, it's 8th inline as I write this, but that may change.

Installing
1. Simply download that file (the .exe) to a location on your computer where you can find it later, the download should take just a few seconds as it is a very small file.
2. Run (double click) the file to install the tool. You will need to click 'next' and 'yes' a few times, leave all the settings as default. It should be pretty straight forward and easy to understand.
3. Click "Finish" at the end of the install process and you are ready to go.

Using
It's very important to note, the Image Resizer is not a program that will show up in your "Start Menu." It is a part of windows like "Cut and Paste." Just another part of the operating system so don't go looking for a new application like you would after installing other programs.

1. Right Click on an image (or group of images).
2. From the pop-up menu that appears you will select "Resize Pictures." A new window should appear.
3. Choose the size you want. I normally use Large (1024X768), that usually makes a nice image small enough for emailing, but still full screen.
4. Click OK. The tool will now make a copy of the image (or images) in the same folder as your source file. Renaming is automatic, IE: myprettypicture.jpg will be copied and renamed to myprettypicture(Large).jpg. If everything is still in default mode the original file will not be affected, chose the "Advanced" option to change this setting if you like.

That's all there is too it, in my experience a mega size file of around 2000K will often be reduced to less than 100K and still be full screen and with no obvious loss in detail.

Go to www.imageshack.us

Upload a picture and then it presents you with a number of options on how you want the image displayed.

Select direct link (I think) and then click the image icon here and paste the link over.

Always remember to Preview Post as I have found out to my cost.
