Becoming a veteran of 24 hour trips myself, glad to see you found a few seconds to breathe and snap some pics. How'd it Go?

Ya know, you're right, that looks nothing like Geraldo!

The first two shots are of the cafe near my office... The guy who owns the place is Iranian and makes an excellent latte...

Beer and Pretzels and you can see my wife looking super hot in the second shot (she's in the middle of the frame). At least I can tell (damn low light and goofy cameraphone lense). <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115103967804977650"><img src="http://lh6.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx_9S408fI/AAAAAAAAArM/WSFlGmXZEr8/s800/0311.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115103972099944962"><img src="http://lh3.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx_9i408gI/AAAAAAAAArU/3GjeVrL1Z84/s800/0312.jpg" /></a> |

On Valentine's Day someone chalked hearts around all the posts for locking your bicycle. There were also a ton of pink hearts chalked all over Queen Street West.

I love the juxtaposition of the "Canada Blooms" shot! Do you ever attend that event?
|
It's not really my sort of thing. I did buy tickets for my Stepmother-in-law and wife so they could go. They had a great time, apparently.

Alexander Keith's eh Charley......good beer.

That's me, Feb 21, reflected in my ice filled wheelbarrow. What's a wheelbarrow used for this time of year? Firewood. Why is it full of water? Out of firewood. Why? Damn cold. 64 degrees one day then down to 20 a couple days later. And not a flake of snow this season!

West Drayton. Seemingly in the middle of nowhere, but actually quite close to Heathrow. This is close to where my job interview was held.
http://static.flickr.com/45/10541158...a0361e.jpg?v=0 Guiness and a London pub. Within a few hours of making into town, this was me enjoying some of Ireland's finest (I had some bangers and mash as well). http://static.flickr.com/50/10541163...e5760f.jpg?v=0 The next few are from my trip to Borough Market (it's on the south side of the Thames near London Bridge). Neil's Dairy is the best place for cheese. Apparently they export to North America. http://static.flickr.com/51/10541170...fecbb0.jpg?v=0 http://static.flickr.com/56/10541176...5c7340.jpg?v=0 http://static.flickr.com/38/10541181...841895.jpg?v=0 http://static.flickr.com/42/10541188...78f416.jpg?v=0 We had dinner at a restaurant named Fish! wow!! :) so neat! thank you for sharing!!
and mmmmmmmmm cheese :D sweetpea |
right on Charley you lucky bastard.
can't wait for more man. |
Looks like a great time. And if you ever get to Berkeley, CA, they have a cheese shop like that there. Simply amazing.
|
i'm guessing that the neil's dairy cheese is sold in the US under the label "neil's yard" - perhaps they're the same in canada?
sadly, the varieties available are greatly limited. i've never seen st. gall or doddington. |
Apparently they do not sell cheese to individuals in the US but do sell to these US retailers:

Amonkie visits Toronto
So this weekend we were graced with another visit from Amonkie. This time there was no Rochester Ferry so she drove the 2.5 hours to Toronto from Rochester.
When she arrived on Saturday, I was able to take her to my local diner (featured in many pictures above). http://static.flickr.com/37/10871964...be6f64.jpg?v=0 I can't post too many shots from this visit as they have pictures of my kids. I will post a link to this one because it looks like my son is about to make an obscene gesture at Amonkie sitting across the table from him. http://www.flickr.com/photos/charlatan/108719693/ Amonkie, finished eating, and the aftermath of our shared plate of homefries: http://static.flickr.com/54/10871970...4720a6.jpg?v=0 http://static.flickr.com/56/10871972...5a989a.jpg?v=0 That evening we made our way to a local pub, Dora Keogh. Of Ducks and Orcs
This weekend past my son took part in March of the Monsters at our local Warhammer Shop. He entered a monster of his creation and came in second. I don't seem to have a picture of it... but I do have some shots of the other gamer's stuff.

Killing Time and London Leftovers
So I had to meet a friend at UofT... I was early. I was bored. Here are some I took while cooling my heels:

Nothing like sitting around eating French cheese. http://static.flickr.com/36/12525889...010394.jpg?v=0 All around the Palais des Festival there are handprints of famous people. To hell with David Caruso - You didn't get a photo of Emily Procter, did you?
|
No, Caruso was the only "star" there for CSI: Miami. I did get to fly with Dennis Haysbert, the actor who played the president on 24. We stood in line checking in, getting on and off the plane and at security in Munich. I'm sure he was wondering why I was stalking him, but I was thinking the same thing about him.

I get so caught up in your pictures, you never know what/where you're gonna see next! I'd like to be your assistant for a couple of weeks, heh.
But I bet the tulips budding at home are the sweetest shots for you, hmm? |
I actually don't like the colour of the tulips in my back yard (red and yellow). I only like them when they are like the photos above. I do like the ones we have in the front yard (there are pictures of them from last year in this thread).
I don't think an assistant would have much do but follow me around and chat. I am pretty self contained. Any assistance I currently receive doesn't get to travel with me, they get to sit in the office and courier packages... It's a nice thought though. |
Well, I meant mostly that because they are at home, and you are obviously getting to be home while taking those pictures...
See, a great assistant would make herself indespensible. You'd be saying to yourself, "Wow, I never had an assistant who traveled with me before, but now I don't know how I possibly got along without her!" |

Thanks, Pinkie. Though I must say my other, less fortunate eye is now jealous. The "excellent eye" always gets all the attention.
