That's cool. I have fond memories of Stockholm and Helsinki. I spent most of my childhood in Tallinn, which you may know is just a few hours boat ride south of Helsinki. So we traveled north quite often. I still miss the scandinavian summer, it feels like no other. A shame I was to young to absorb the culture or notice all the blonde girls running around but I remember the beautiful cities and the nice people.

Honestly, I feel all honored and stuff to have made it into your phone camera thread! I am progressing through all these pages of photos, so far my favs are of Spain and Germany. I especially like the one in Spain with the little cherry tomatoes on the table. Getting back to viewing and reading! *hugs* |

Thanks for checking out the thread though. |

At any rate, this is the first time I've seen this thread. Very interesting idea (quick, random pictures of daily yet interesting places and things). The only pictures I seem to have on my phone are shots of the inside of my pocket. |
The pictures got better because I downloaded a new program for snapping the shots... it makes them clearer.
I too have some lovely shots of my armpit and the like... night shots seem to be the worst (no flash). Thanks for checking out the thread, I'm never sure if people are seeing any of these shots... |
dude.........i'm checking in here all the time.........
start takin' some more freakin' shots bro. |
I might be missing it...but what do you do for a living where you can travel the world?
That is really cool and the pictures are great. |
Thanks Flyman...
and optik... I am an international man of mystery... |
Santa Monica and Kendo Tournament
3 Attachment(s)
The first shot is one of the last ones I took while I was in Santa Monica... they have a number of leafy dinosaurs that spout water... you've probably seen them in the background in movies and on TV.
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098719354940722"><img src="http://lh4.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7Ly407TI/AAAAAAAAAhs/RZWNgp1DSJc/s800/0235.jpg" /></a> The next couple of shots are from the kendo tornament I took part in last Saturday. My son took the pictures. The second one I had to crop out my daughter... she was wishing me good luck. <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098719354940738"><img src="http://lh4.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7Ly407UI/AAAAAAAAAh0/m2fMqItKFus/s800/0236.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098727944875346"><img src="http://lh6.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7MS407VI/AAAAAAAAAh8/Pf2eIeV_OaU/s800/0237.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098727944875362"><img src="http://lh6.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7MS407WI/AAAAAAAAAiE/aQYuFIcBvws/s800/0238.jpg" /></a> |
More Kendo and Skateboarding
3 Attachment(s)
The next two shots are of my match. You can see me in the first one on the left and you can see my back in the second one as I try to score a point on my opponent (for those who don't read my journal, I was beaten but not terribly).
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098732239842674"><img src="http://lh3.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7Mi407XI/AAAAAAAAAiM/Z6VGzM3kt78/s800/0239.jpg" /></a> After the tornament I had to rush my son off to his skateboarding class... I snapped this without, amazingly, falling on my ass. <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098736534809986"><img src="http://lh4.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7My407YI/AAAAAAAAAiU/63teALr8abU/s800/0240.jpg" /></a> |
WOW, I didn't know you did kendo! I'll have to check out your journal now--amp up the stalking ;P
Must say, you look rather intimidating in your kendo get up. |
Nice! Now I want to learn kendo. Karate will have to do for now. :)
|
walk softly, and carry a big stick Charlie...........
|
can someone tell me how to get pictures from my phone to the computer? thanxs!
|
Very impresive kendo outfit Charlatan. I am sure if you can learn kendo skateboarding is cinch!

The first shot is of my dog, Zero. He is a big goof.
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098736534810002"><img src="http://lh4.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7My407ZI/AAAAAAAAAic/-glezaf-9IY/s800/0241.jpg" /></a> The second is a close up of the jukeboxes they have a the diner where I like to have breakfast on Saturdays with my kids. <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098740829777314"><img src="http://lh5.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7NC407aI/AAAAAAAAAik/tJXvc2FKvac/s800/0242.jpg" /></a> The third is my coffee cup at the diner. I love the simplicity of the design on these cups. <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098745124744626"><img src="http://lh6.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7NS407bI/AAAAAAAAAis/XdwQL84BEuE/s800/0243.jpg" /></a> Finally, this is where I get my beer. <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098749419711938"><img src="http://lh3.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7Ni407cI/AAAAAAAAAi0/GDbYgVPvWj8/s800/0244.jpg" /></a> |
Santa Claus Parade
4 Attachment(s)
On Sunday I took my daughter to see her first Santa Claus Parade. The Toronto Santa Claus Parade is the biggest Santa Claus Parade in the world and has been happening in Toronto since 1905.
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098749419711954"><img src="http://lh3.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7Ni407dI/AAAAAAAAAi8/KUvGaab_Bxw/s800/0245.jpg" /></a> I am pretty sure she enjoyed herself, eventhough she fell asleep about 2/3 into the parade. I did wake her in time for Santa. <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098753714679266"><img src="http://lh4.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7Ny407eI/AAAAAAAAAjE/1w5x9TIPdLQ/s800/0246.jpg" /></a> She said her favourite part was the upside down clowns and ducks. <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098758009646578"><img src="http://lh5.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7OC407fI/AAAAAAAAAjM/LQyJooIIvcs/s800/0247.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098762304613890"><img src="http://lh6.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7OS407gI/AAAAAAAAAjU/ZVN7YpcIFSs/s800/0248.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098762304613906"><img src="http://lh6.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7OS407hI/AAAAAAAAAjc/KO4mYXyA1Xw/s800/0249.jpg" /></a> |

The oddest thing in the parade, was the inclusion of the Falun Dala (or Falun Gong). They had a rather large showing with a procession of drummers.
I can just imagine how this went over with the Chinese embassy. <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098766599581218"><img src="http://lh3.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7Oi407iI/AAAAAAAAAjk/kKmoETAKMv0/s800/0250.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098766599581234"><img src="http://lh3.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7Oi407jI/AAAAAAAAAjs/wuYol3ZG-Xs/s800/0251.jpg" /></a> |

Toronto recieved its first taste of real winter this week. Snow storms and snow actually staying on the ground... or in this case the roof.
The first shot is of the roof I can see from the men's room at my office. It's the roof of the Club Monaco on Queen Street West, for those who know it. <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098775189515874"><img src="http://lh5.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7PC407mI/AAAAAAAAAkE/oORUyoeI3No/s800/0254.jpg" /></a> The next shot is taken from the same spot, different angle. As you can see, the landlord doesn't give this old warehouse space a lot of love. This bathroom is chilly at best. <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098775189515890"><img src="http://lh5.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7PC407nI/AAAAAAAAAkM/BKjpBJd4gGA/s800/0255.jpg" /></a> |
Hey Charlie what up man. Only a very small % of pics are showing up. Many, many rex's.
Cool jukebox though. Is it a table model? |
OK now they're showing up little by little. I guess I just have to leave the thread open a bit. Weird.
Winter down here too man. The start of a loooooong season. |

It has been a while since I posted here... I've been a bit occupied. That said, I have been taking pictures...
The first two I took last week when I went to see the film Syriana. They were taken outside on Bloor Street in front of the Manulife Centre. I was feeling very Christmas-y at the time. <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098779484483202"><img src="http://lh6.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7PS407oI/AAAAAAAAAkU/XBwemx80tQs/s800/0256.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098783779450514"><img src="http://lh3.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7Pi407pI/AAAAAAAAAkc/iahtMHToPqc/s800/0257.jpg" /></a> The next two are from my street right after the snowfall... I always love December snowfalls... so much more tolerable than the ones in March. <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098792369385122"><img src="http://lh5.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7QC407qI/AAAAAAAAAkk/6K1Mdcju9xI/s800/0258.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098796664352434"><img src="http://lh6.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7QS407rI/AAAAAAAAAks/qhPtjauVvKs/s800/0259.jpg" /></a> |
Those last two shots make me cold just looking at them! (Says the California Girl.)

The first shot is of my poor sad Vespa undercover and sitting out in the snow. I just put it away this weekend.
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098796664352450"><img src="http://lh6.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7QS407sI/AAAAAAAAAk0/_atFuwgovOk/s800/0260.jpg" /></a> Zero by our newly raised Christmas tree. He doesn't like it when I take his picture. <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098805254287058"><img src="http://lh4.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7Qy407tI/AAAAAAAAAk8/PtElfMM9Nww/s800/0261.jpg" /></a> The third shot is taken on Front Street looking West towards downtown. It shows the Gooderham and Worts building in the middle (it's also called the flat iron building). I like this photo. <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098805254287074"><img src="http://lh4.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7Qy407uI/AAAAAAAAAlE/TtlijmZSi3U/s800/0262.jpg" /></a> Finally... another shot of our long suffering cat. He was given a hat for Christmas yesterday... <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Temp/photo?authkey=UjR5dOgSIIc#5115098809549254386"><img src="http://lh5.google.com/StevenMurphy001/Rvx7RC407vI/AAAAAAAAAlM/2NK7ULJKg3w/s800/0263.jpg" /></a> |

How about a "Where's Charlatan?" game thread? :D |
haha
actually that sounds like a good game thread.. we take a pic of our location, camera phone is good, and try to guess the location. It can't be too difficult, if it is to be truly fair. Who ever guesses, posts the next? sound good? Charlatan, the snow looks good on your street. Looks to be near Withrow park? |
We could start at thread in Canada... the "where am I in Toronto" thread. I think there are enough of us in Toronto that it could be interesting...
I thought that shot was of my street but now that I look at it, I think it's Withrow Avenue looking West from Logan (probably took it while walking my daughter to school). |
I love the kitty!
And I'm up for the "where am I" thread. Sounds like fun. |
zero is way too cool...........love it.
