Awesome ceiling art
These could have gone in my Vegas post, but I didn't have them ready at the time. Anyway, the ceiling in the foyer of the Bellagio was made out of these blown glass flowers that were amazing. I grabbed a picture of them which turned out really nice.
<img src="http://www.teagues.org/teagues/PhotoGallery/Vegas/BellagioGlassCeiling.jpg" border="0"> <p> However, I got to playing with it and rotated 180 degrees and inverted it and it turned into a really cool work of art I thought. It looks kind of like a river of psychadelic lily pads or something. <img src="http://www.teagues.org/teagues/PhotoGallery/Vegas/BellagioCeilingArt.jpg" border="0"> ....and then I got to playing some more and thought I'd turn it into something I could print and frame. I made it look more like an oil painting on canvas by adding some texturing and embossing and I really liked the way it came out. <img src="http://www.teagues.org/teagues/PhotoGallery/Vegas/ceilingArt.jpg" border="0"> Hope you enjoy. |
wow, that's really cool!
now just imagine if you could animate it so they were flowing off into the distance .... |

Dale Chihuly did the glass art for the Bellagio. Fantastic artist. I think he's somewhere in the Seattle area. For a look at some of his other work, check out http://www.chihuly.com. His glass always has a very organic look to it. There are some real wide shots of that cool lobby. Neat post!

hey that's real cool what you did in the 2nd image.
the 3rd... heh... i'm not a big fan of generic texture tossed all over an image, but if YOU like it, then that is really all that matters! :) |
I'd like to see a combination of the 3rd pic's texture and the 2nd's colors.

Those are awesome! There was an exhibit of the guys work traveling around recently and I got a chance to see it- lots more of the same unique styles. I have to go to Vegas now! :)

Thanks for the comments
As for putting the texturing with the coloring from the 2nd one, I tried something like that. It didn't come out all that well. When I tried to lighten it up with the textures in there, it made it look really odd and unnatural. With the darker tones, I thought it made it look wetter and more like oil on canvas, and that was the look I was going for. I did print out a copy of the third one, trimmed off the black, matted it onto black construction paper, and framed it in a black and white 3 tier frame and it looks really amazing. There was a Monet exhibit in the Bellagio while I was out there, but I was too stupid not to take the time to go in and see it. I think it was only $15 to see. I kept saying to myself, "I'm going to see that before I go. I'm going to see it before I go".. and then the time just sort of dissappeared and it was time to go and I hadn't gone to see the exhibit :(. |
