3rd Avenue - up close.

3rd Avenue is a really swank part of Naples. It's a beautiful place, but the vistas looked really flat and uninteresting through the viewfinder. I seem to be stuck in a particular phase of details and close-ups. Bear with me, lol.

These were taken on my birthday - last weekend.

Good place to be stuck. Lovely work.

heh. homoerotica is rife in Naples...but then, I guess it probablly is in the real Naples, as well.
these are the only other shots I have of it:

Here's a shot I found of the whole thing. Not mine.

Those turned out really nice, MM. I really like that one of the dirty window for some reason. Probably something deeply symbolic or psychological about the opaqueness, etc...

Yah - that window was posted elsewhere on TFP? I've seen it, and liked it. Also very struck by the tree base w. the sprouty root bits.

What makes a piece homoerotic, btw? Is it because a gay person may find something in the artwork appeals to their more sensual senses? If a female has the same response does the work remain homoerotic? Just idly wondered . . .

i posted the window shot and a couple others in my journal...

...I think the statues of perfect young men carved in marble by men have taken on the historical sheen of being homoerotic...but, it ain't necessarily so.
personally, I'm not too sure.

thanks, Manic. I liked that one, too...something very 'abandoned lunatic asylum' about it, lol.

The window was actually in a door leading into an art classroom/studio. Those brown shapes are easels lining the back wall.

Wow. I interpretted those brown figures as the large letters over an old theater marquee. Since it was lighter on the other side of the window, my mind went to shooting from inside/outside and I had to search for what it could be. Great photo!
