A trip out west
Hello. It's been quite some time since i've posted on these boards.
Anyway, I recently took a trip out west with a few friends and here's a small sample of what I came back with: (All taken with a D300, Tamron 17-50mm f2.8, Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6) 1. Driving into Yellowstone. https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/classon/...t/DSC_2465.jpg 2. Same, but with a river this time. https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/classon/...t/DSC_2471.jpg 3. I forget the name of these falls but they were also in Yellowstone. I think it may have been Angel lookout or something. https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/classon/...t/DSC_2480.jpg 4. Old Faithful putting on a show. https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/classon/...t/DSC_2525.jpg 5. Hiking in Utah. Deadly switchbacks. https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/classon/...t/DSC_2549.jpg 6. The Tetons. https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/classon/...t/DSC_2619.jpg 7. Same. Few minutes later. We basically got to watch a storm form, lighting hit the mountains, hail cover them, and then it the storm just disappeared. Pretty cool. https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/classon/...t/DSC_2625.jpg 8. Moonset over the Tetons. Taken at about 11:30 PM. I had recently bought a really nice Manfrotto tripod but somehow it was left behind in the rush to leave. I ended up having to buy a crappy 18 dollar tripod at K-mart. It couldn't support the weight of my camera so I had to get creative with stabilizing it. https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/classon/...t/DSC_2669.jpg 9. The Milkyway. https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/classon/...t/DSC_2674.jpg 10. Death Canyon. https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/classon/...t/DSC_2696.jpg 11. Runoff stream. Still plenty of snow on these mountains. https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/classon/...t/DSC_2716.jpg 12. The Canyon. https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/classon/...t/DSC_2737.jpg 13. One last time. https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/classon/...t/DSC_2742.jpg |
Awesome skies. I want to walk #12.

Gorgeous shots and colors. Makes me want to breathe some nice, clean, Yellowstone air.

That's just awesome! Those pix totally are great.

I've never been to Yellowstone, but now I absolutely must find a way.
Thanks for posting these shots! |
Great shots, friend. Some spectacular scenery you've captured!
Beautiful country, America is....... |
I've been to Yellowstone many many times. My family has a fishing cabin in Island Park, ID, which is about 20 minutes west of West Yellowstone. In fact, we were up there just last week.
They're not kidding about the nickname "Big Sky Country". |
Great shots, #8 inspired me to clean my laptop screen. :)
|
these are so beautiful. I really must find a way to see places like this sometime before I die...
|
#8 and #11 are magnificent. #8 inspires me to make music that goes along with it.

I'm hanging out for my boys to get old enough to get back into walking (carrying a 3yo doesn't really add to the experience). Photos like this remind me what I'm missing out on!
