Canon Digital Rebel XTi
For those of you who have used this camera what lenses have you used that have brought you satisfaction with the results?
|
The only Canon I use is a Rebel T2 so I don't know too much about their digital lenses. But here might be a good place to start.

I have a Canon EOS300D (a.k.a the Digital Rebel) and have had satisfactory results with lots of different lenses, most of which were on the inexpensive end of the spectrum. I don't know you too well and you didn't specify how advanced you are as a photographer or what your budget is, but there are some lenses which many Canon photographers seem to favour.
The 50mm/1.8 is a great, inexpensive lens for portrait or indoor photography. The old EF 28-135 IS Ultrasonic is an excellent mid-price walkabout zoom lens, and I've heard that the EF-S equivalent is pretty good too... thinking of picking it up actually. I borrowed a 70-200 f/4 L IS from a pro once and it was an amazing lens for telephoto shots, but pretty pricey. |
I have to second the 50mm/1.8 with a passion...it's an awesome lens for about $70. It should really come with the camera.

I have done some research on your suggestions and I like your ideas. Thanks again for the advice and guidance from your experience.

I have two zoom lenses, a 28-80 and 70-300. Both are inexpensive lenses; the shorter one came with my rebel 3000 and the 70-300 is a Tamron. Both take decent pictures, and with the 1.25x correction factor, I have a pretty big range captured. I mainly use the large lens for shooting auto races. A 50/1.8 would be great for general use as the others said, but I do like having a little bit of zoom. For an equivalent price you loose a little picture quality and have a higher aperture limit with a zoom though.
