My Life In Arizona
Shesus and I spent a year in exile in Phoenix. While desert life wasn't for us, I did learn that Northern Arizona is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen in my life.
During our year there, we did manage to get out and see a lot. I realized that my participation in this corner of TFP has been very lax. Here are some photos of our travels in Arizona -------------------------------------------- First up is the Vermillion Cliffs at sunrise. http://www.kwpearce.com/hotlinking/V...Cliffs-019.jpg Next is from Monument Valley which is technically in Utah. http://www.kwpearce.com/hotlinking/M...Valley-001.jpg Now we have the Grand Canyon. It was a gorgeous day during this visit. There was a controlled burn at the North Rim. http://www.kwpearce.com/hotlinking/ControlledBurn.jpg Finally, we have AZ Hwy 163 on the way to Monument Valley. This is called El Capitan but is more commonly referred to as Aglatha Peak. http://www.kwpearce.com/hotlinking/A...ak-Arizona.jpg |
Absolutely stunning photographs. The second and third are so vibrant and rich in color from the saturation. My favorite aspects are the rays of sun spilling down contrasted by the darkness of the sky, and the shadowing from the cracks and crevices in the canyon. :)

Gorgeous, JJ.
The one of the road is a heart-stopper. It has a real emotional impact that I can't put my finger on. But I reacted to it right away. Just lovely. Thanks for sharing them. |
Wow! Very nice!
|
Great shots. I agree with MM that the last one has a certain something.
|
Beautiful~ All that geology makes me happy.
|
I've been to a few of those places. And I would recommend that other people take a vacation there too.
|
Well, i think, now i really want to visit USA )
|
im not surprised by your photographic skills JJ. well done!
very nice indeed. i've visited Oman here next to the UAE and it's referred to as the Grand Canyon and is very similar to your pics. i think you'd have a ball there! |
Fantastic! I'd love to see more shots, if you have them. :)
|
Great photos! Thank you for posting them. Do you have any other photos to share from that unfortunate period of your life?
(I am currently enduring a summer in the desert). |
Holy snap! Somebody loves the sky. I like your eye, JJ.
|
Very well done.
I really like the first two. I desperately need to go back to the Grand Canyon someday. |

Ditto. I feel like I've commented in this thread already because I distinctly remember the last two shots. The third is just plain awesome - the placement of the sky so high in the frame, the tones and horizontal lines throughout. Good stuff. |
Thanks everyone for bringing this back up. I haven't been taking as many photos lately. Other life issues took precedence. I had forgotten this thread completely. It was nice to see these again and be reminded of what I love to do most. Your comments are always appreciated.
