Great work - the sky in all three shots has this surreal and breathtaking quality to it.

Thanks for sharing.

I really love the very "summery" looking sky in contrast with the snow.

I also really like the composition of these shots. You do a great job of choosing what to shoot and where to put it in your frame.

Snow in the desert - even if it is high desert - just doesn't make sense to me.

Nice shots as always, fnaqzna.

Great composition. I'd never believe snow in the desert, not the usual shots.

Thanks everyone. These were taken east of Lake Isabella, near Walker Pass... California.

Edit... here's one more.

I used to think the same thing. It's a precipitation thing. Did you know that there are areas of the ocean that are classified as desert? Crazy!

Anyways, awesome pics!

I'm curious what kind of post-processing you do to those pictures?

Adjustments to white balance, contrast, luminosity, saturation... the standard tricks.

Gotta say though... a lot of that blue sky is the result of the lens, a Tokina 12-24mm f/4. It makes the sky pop.

I miss seeing joshua trees! Since moving to school I don't get to see them much anymore and when I do go home there are so many damn housing tracks popping up that the joshua trees are disappearing.

I got out again today... saw a burro. Can't remember the last one I saw in the wild.

For being a wild burro, that guy's in really good shape. Good weight, good feet. I'm surprised.

I also really like the fence shot. There's no landscape even remotely like that in Ohio, so your photos are really nice to look at.

I really need to move out of the city...

Your pictures always remind me of a TV show I've begun to watch with some frequency over the past year: http://www.iptv.org/series.cfm/3242/ep:1705
