Pennsylvania Eagles
Here's a few of the pictures I got yesterday of eagles in eastern Pennsylvania, near the Delaware River. These aren't the greatest pictures since it was a cloudy day and the eagles were pretty far away, but given the conditions, I'm happy. These are all 100% crops from the originals.

I don't know how fast the eagle was flying, but the motion blur in the background is impressive. http://www.pbase.com/dwootton/image/...7/original.jpg All taken with a 70-200 F2.8L lens and 2x extender at or near 400mm limit, F5.6 aperture, so focus isn't really sharp. These, from last year, when I was able to get close to the eagles, are better. http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthr...ghlight=eagles |
the one of him in flight is amazing... they are such magnificent creatures...
thanks for sharing those... |
Aftering seeing an eagle in the wild in person earlier last year, I have a better measure of their enormous size ... these are just simply amazing.

Both sets are beautiful. I was in Africa over the summer and there is nothing quite like seeing enormous birds of prey in action. ;)

They're all great but that last one
is absolutely stunning! Thanks for sharing. :) |
Fantastic pictures!
thank you so much for posting these. |
Great pics...
How common are these birds in this area? |
Eagles aren't very common around here. There's supposed to be some eagles that live on the Hudson River, but the only time I've ever seen any is one week when it was about 20 below zero and everything except one waterfall was frozen. They are a bit more common along the Delaware River, where I took these pictures. There's more in the winter when they migrate from somewhere north, but there are a few that are here permanently. I saw maybe 8 or 10 eagles the day I got these pictures.
