I don't look in the Parenting forum often but saw this thread today and thought I would reply. My wife has already had a child (my stepdaugher - age 13) and I don't want any children of my own. Living with my stepdaugher has only strengthened my resolve that I don't want my own kids. We get along fine, she likes me but I'm just not a kid person. I love my wife and I married her despite the fact she had a child. I thought I could deal with said child until she goes to college in five years. I'll admit there are days I don't know if I'll make it. I don't "fear" having children (a patently absurd theory). I just have no use for them. I treat my step daughter very well but when she moves away I will be happy. Kids just aren't for me and my wife is done as well. Why do couples with children fear those that choose to be child free?
