Sex Offender Check.
Just type in your zip-code.
JUST your zip code. http://www.criminalcheck.com/ And please don't post the results of your search. |
There's a few in the town I live in -- it gives just enough detail to raise an eyebrow but not enough detail to really make a person worry -- one offender in my area -- aged 22, crime? sex with an underage person - Wanna bet that he had a 16 year old girlfriend when he was 19 or 20 and her momma didn't like it...
|
the one I found living down the street from where I grew up had forced sex with a 4 year old girl...
thats enough detail to make me worry... but anyways, I stuck this here just so the parents could take a gander, see if anyone they know their children is around is on the list. |
I checked this once, and the amount of dangerous (ie, rapists, and not the 19 year old with an underage girlfriend) people in my area scared the crap outta me. Perhaps I should check again now that I've moved and have a child.
Edit: Yikes. A guy a couple streets down had sex with a 7 year old. I knew I shouldn't have checked the site. Another edit: The page said that contact happened more than once; he got 2 months in jail and probation. WTF???? |
hmmmm... interesting. there are none in my zipcode. i don't think i believe that for one minute.
|
Hmm, what zip code is Neverland Ranch in?

Oregon doesn't seem to participate for whatever reason :( |
None in my zipcode, but it's a teenie little town. All sorts of wonderful folks in Boulder. I'm curious as hell, why they list shoe size for a few of them.
I'm of mixed feeling on this. On the one hand, they've paid their debt to society (in theory, at least). On the other hand, I have a wife and two daughters and wouldn't hesitate for a second to inform them of a creep down the street. |

I believe that any privacy for the offender is thrown out the window because of the incredibly high rate of repeate offenses among sex offenders. Public safety is priority #1 |

Sex offender registries can encourage vigilante justice. |

It really does sound stupid when I say it, if its consensual, wheres the crime, but hey, this is the society we live in, and if you ask for too much off the bat, you'll get snubbed. baby steps. |
People using this site may want to verify the information. I used the site to check for registrants in my zip code and it said none. I then went to my states registry and found 16 (and yes, my state is on the list of included states).

Seems to be a lot of suprise at the number of sex offenders out and about in the world... and the lack of ''justice''... the neighbors kid got busted for forcing girls to do oral at school and on the bus, he served a year of county time, even after he got busted for doing the same thing while he was out on work release...nice. I think he got a ton of probation, but they fall through the cracks there too. Fortunately, the real sick and violent ones stay confined.

Two in my county - one within a mile. I forget whether it's Ohio or Warren county, but one of those have a nice feature where if a Registered Sex Offender moves within a mile of your current address, they will notify you via email.
|
One guy, with quite a few charges... :hmm:
|
This one lists nothing in my area. Unfortunately I know of two men by name who live in this area and are on the National Registry for sexual offenders. Each State's Law Enforcement's web page should list a current sex offender registry. When I search Wisconsin's registry for my zip code alone I come up with 62. Many are 3rd degree young men over 18 who made the mistake of pissing off someone elses Momma when the girl was under 18. There are about 10 or so who are 2nd and 1st degree and several of the 1st degree ones also involve kidnapping. When I searched it once before there was one 2nd degree fellow only a block away. Needless to say I keep a close eye on my daughter.

I check the "Offenders" page in my county sometimes. They even have pictures. It is really scary that there are 25+ "offenders" listed in my little town. Something to be said for living in a small town in the south!
|
hehe, I see creeps, but my father is strangely missing, that bothers me, time to check again
|
There were not a whole lot in the area I currently live in, but the area where I am moving to had a whole bunch. That is scary:(
|
There are quite a few in my zip, but none that I could find near me. it would be helpful to see the charge some are blank, but worth looking at. thanks
|
There are 8 within 2 miles of my house!!!! although Im not sure waht 4th degree sex offense is
|

Underage girlfriend-- it's not considered consensual because under the age of 17 they cannot give consent. |
then whats the difference between statutory rape (which I thought was underage) and the 4th degree? I've got 3 people with statutory and 1 with the 4th degree thing
|
Sorry - -I misread it --

That's good to know. There are a few in our area but not within few miles. I printed out the descriptions just in case.
Thanks! |
There is one on my street one block away.
Perhaps I will have my ninjas visit Mr. D.J. Brown one night when he least expects it. I'll make sure I don't send the 8 year old girl ninjas that he seems to like so much. If only all child molesters had but one neck to cut. |
GH you always know how to save the day. Ninjas seem like a good idea to me.
|
There were about 15 in my area code, and all of them had sex with minors.
All of them were old too. Doesn't really bother me, but then I don't have any kids. |
there are none in my zipcode.
|
Unfortunately, Nebraska is one of the states listed that you can't search via zip code. However, a quick search of the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry shows 18, just in my neighborhood. Omaha proper has 207. Yeeesh, what happened to the wholesome midwest, eh?
One, that lives in my neighborhood caught my attention. Not so much for his proximity (there are several that live closer), but his...status. I recognized the name and the face. He was the producer of a popular local conservative talk radio show, here in Omaha. One day, with no explaination, the "talent" introduced a new producer. Now I see that the reason was because the old producer was caught with child porn. |
There are SOOOOOOOOO many in my town, it's ridiculous. Way more than I can count. I think I clicked the "get more" button like ten times+.
In my zipcode alone, there are 46 sex offenders. In the ajacent zipcode (about a mile away) there are 193. |
i put in a few zipcodes... came up with a few names i recognized as customers of mine from where I used to work. I can remember what they look like, coming to pick up their prescriptions. Sad.
|
There's 4 within walking distance of my house, one just 4 houses down! These sites are great. I knew about the one 4 houses down, and my kids know to stay way away from that house.

It's good that this information is available to the general public, but I really gotta question the accuracy of it. |
Thank you, I'm not a parent yet, but I do have younger siblings. Its scary to think all those people live in my town.

He's not listed :( |
Thanks for posting this. I mentioned it to my mom who has now told several people who have wanted to check it out. But unfortunately my husbands cousin is listed on there because he was over 18 and slept with a girl who was still under 18. It's been like 8 years now and I just hope someone doesn't come across it now and fail to look at when he was convicted.
And also there are some not listed that I know have been convicted of sex crimes. Wonder why that is? |

These public humiliation forums, listing sex offenders, or johns, or drunk drivers do more harm than good, in my opinion. If these people are still threats, then they should still be on probation or parole, supervised by qualified professionals. By placing their pictures and identities in public the government is just throwing it's hands up in warning and delegating its job to the public at large. These warnings aren't going to help parents stay away from sex offenders (who contrary to public perception are not posing as babysitters to get into your living rooms); rather, it's going to prevent former criminals from getting jobs delivering pizza or working in a shoe factory. If keeping former criminals unemployed and apart from the rest of society is your goal then this is the plan for you. If you want to see people rehabilitated or returned to society in a productive manner than this half-assed vigilantism should end. http://esor.freeservers.com/Examining.pdf edit: And please, don't rely on third party websites to offer you this information. If you want to know if a sex offender is living near you at least search out an official source, like your state's sex offender registration bureau (probably connected to the state police). |
